WBA Playoffs Thread
There’s not much I can add except I was resigned to losing when we were 1-0 up and as the second half wore on we couldn’t score a second. I felt sure Villa would equalise in those 40 minutes Brunt was off the pitch.

For me, the damage was done (1) in our home form over the season, then (2) with Gayle’s stupid sending-off on Saturday, ruling him out last night and for the play-off final. All in all, I don’t think we deserved to go up.

Finally, can we say a massive thank-you to our own Ska’d for his great match threads throughout the season, culminating with this play-off thread. Thanks, Ska’d, and I hope you continue them next season as well. Your efforts are very much appreciated.

I don’t like it when a team outside the top 4 gets promoted but with this, I really want to see Derby win.

It’ll be great for Lampard and for the club to finally, after a couple of play-offs failings, get back into the big time.

Even more gutted about last night now, as I feel Derby are a level below the other 3 playoff sides.

But hey, who would've banked on Leeds making the plethora of errors that they made tonight? Just shows how much of a lotto the playoffs are.

It pains me to say it, but for us, I think the best thing to happen would be a Villa win. Derby seem to be having financial problems and I doubt they would be able to splash the cash should they be a Championship side next year. Villa on the other hand always seem to have a load of cash to spend. So I think it will be an easier league next year if Villa go up.

Expect Villa will win comfortably anyway, but you just can't predict football.

Aren't vile over spent on ffp ...... I may be wrong but I thought this year was glory or bust for them. Promotion or sell Jack "Tom Daley" Grealish to balance the books.

Haven't seen their accounts but I would be surprised if Villa were in trouble with FFP or P&S a its now called. Their loss capability is at least 39m over three seasons, and I think this is raised for PL relegated teams for a season or two. With their gates, commercial revenue and parachute payments I would be amazed if they have over spent. Their transfer activity in the past 12 months has seen them create a surplus so it will be down to wages if they are over P&S.

Their money issues stemmed from the Chinese Government putting restrictions on Chinese citizens moving money out of China, this led to 55% of the company being sold to the Sawaris and Edens, which freed up the ability to put money into the club.

If indeed they are up against the P&S limits, then first they have one more season to balance the books because only season in the EFL count and secondly as you say they can sell Grealish and that money will go directly towards offsetting any losses.

Derby turned us over twice, and Villa’s win against us can’t be denied - I think we’d be happy to swap results and performances with them. I’ll be supporting them against Derby in the play-off final, but if Derby decide to attack from the off, they’re dangerous, and I think they’ll win if they do attack.

Aries, I will be supporting Derby against the vile, I would support the Dog and Duck against the vile, hate them more than the dingles ....... arrogant gits. If both teams bring their A games I think the rams will be to strong for the vile's flimsy defence ..... come on you Rams.

Well thats how Derby got themselves out of trouble earlier this season, sold their stadium essentially to themselves for 80m and ended up showing a 40m profit on the season!!!

To be honest I can see us doing that as well. It is getting harder and harder to compete in the Championship without some seriously creative thinking!!
