Huddersfield V Bournemouth Match Thread

So where do we begin? we finally got that winning feeling against wolves thanks to a scrappy Steve Mounie goal, but it doenst matter how they come and then followed it up with a puzzling performance on the south coast against Brighton, where the game never really felt to get out of first gear, yet we still managed to find a way of losing the game due to switching off at a free kick.

Our mini affair with the south coast doesnt end there, for on saturday we welcome Bournemouth to the civilised north. This is a Bournemouth side with a lot of domestic talent like Callum Wilson, David Brooks and Ryan Fraser, known for its attacking possession based football, although you wouldnt have known from their last game at home against Man City where they clocked an almighty 18% of the ball, we had 32%, but still suffered the same fate.

It could be said that Eddie Howes men get a little bit of a free pass from the media and the world cup winning managers that are now pundits such as Paul Merson and Alan Shearer, mainly due to their high english contingent and young english manager, but, looking at their recent results and who they have played, they have won just two games in 2019, an almighty one more than us and Brighton, yet who are the ones that are given a free pass and which side is laughed at? The one without the domestic manager.

But anyhow, in the magnificent run that they have been on, they have encountered some very Huddersfield Town-esque results losing 5-1 to arsenal, 3-0 to liverpool, 2-0 to cardiff, 3-1 to brighton in the FA Cup, they have however picked up one more draw than us in 2019.

So what else has happened on the south coast? well for one, Eddie Howe has been given the freedom of Bournemouth for his part in taking the club from the brink and up into the premier league, which is fair enough, but dare we mention the fact that they are owned by a russian billionaire? something that people always seem to forget when yielding praise for the club, maybe its because they have a stadium that holds around 11 thousand people, who knows...

So who is there to look out for at bournemouth?

Nathan Ake- The rather small dutch centre half looks to have based himself on ruud gullit with the hair, but make no mistake, his height doesnt really mean a thing as he still seems to win the ball in the air, whilst also being rather adept at playing out from the back, it would probably make more sense for Mounie to go up against him and Grant take on Ake's defensive partner

David Brooks- the welsh winger hasnt  been there too long having joined from Sheffield United, however, his performances this season resulted in some of the bigger clubs taking notice, so Bournemouth tied him down to a new deal.

Josh King- Former man united trainee, now a Norwegian international, had a trial at town under lee clark, but signed for bournemouth and has been there ever since. Quick and strong, can play down the middle or up top as the main man.

Callum Wilson- always seems to score against us, the sort of player we have been crying out for a long long time. may not feature at the weekend as he has been out through injury, but has been back training this week. maybe we might get the rub of the green on this one?

[Image: skysports-callum-wilson-bournemouth-prem...1118194657]

Ryan Fraser- diminutive scottish winger who has been at the club for a while too, is pretty much everything pritchard isnt at the moment and will be a threat out wide and if he gets in and around our penalty box

So what about us?

Well it appears that there are quite a few injuries in the camp at the moment, Diakhaby and mbenza are both still out, although i think mbenza will be back sooner than diakhaby. Danny Williams and Sabiri are both back training with the squad but it is now a case of getting them to the fitness required. Hogg is set to be ruled out due to the rib injury picked up last weekend away at brighton, whilst duhaney is also likely to miss out as a result of an injury he picked up against wolves, depoitre could also be out with a foot injury, it is believed he tried kicking the ball. tommy smith is also out as a result of the red card picked up against newcastle.

with the amount of players out it could mean that Siewert gives a chance to some more youngsters, following on from the debut for duhaney and the bench slot for matty daly, the names to keep an eye out for in the youth sides would be aaron rowe (believe he is related to rodders) scott high and kian harratt, whether any get a go is anyones guess, but we may also see the return of puncheon to the bench, but hopefully no flo in the starting lineup.

what he said?

afc bournemouth are good in transition. I have seen our performance down there and I look at the possibility of how we play. We will need to show a lot of energy.”

“Jon Stankovic had problems but he has trained this week; he should be ok.”

We are still fighting. We look at each game for a performance. We won at home last time and it was a big boost for us. It was good to taste a win and we are looking forward.”

“afcbournemouth are very quick and score a lot of goals. We have to be careful of their offensive transition.”

“The fans know me now and know I’m on fire at games. I really hate losing, I’m not used to it. If a club deserves success then it’s this club. I want to give the Club wins. I will keep fighting

“MattyDaly10 has a good technique and vision. He is young and hungry. He still needs time as he had an inury, but I like his style. I really like the way htafc works with its htafcacademy.”

“First of all Tommy was suspended for three games. This is no reflection on Tommy; he’s a great guy. We need leaders on the pitch. Christopher Schindler will remain our captain for the rest of the season. He has leadership quality and performs well.”

After the Wolves game the players deserved to start again. Now I have to find solutions to the injuries. We have training tomorrow and then I’ll make my decision.”

i'd like to do a played for both, but the only ones that comes to mind is anton robinson and donal mcdermott and they were such big flops i dont really want to even put a picture of them on here so you can settle for this, just for am

I'll swear I've just seen a heffalump having a shower in Hardraw Force. Nah, can't be, AmChaff would have been there in a bikini, sun bronzed and a broom in one hand, samosas in the other and Snoots would have been following close behind with a bucket and shovel, "it's fo' me roses guv", surely?

I'm going to have to check the strength of me beers - that or go back on the vodka drips.

Anyway - top notch thread jjamez, Thumb up Thumb up How do you paste those holographic images? I'm sure it is really one of Town scoring a bagful against Bornmuff last season really, I mean, really?

Nice one jjamez. Thumb up

I can't think of many club connections other than the ones you mentioned. Callum Wilson was on our radar when Mark Robins was manager, having managed him at Coventry. He chose them over us and effectively ended Robins' Town career with a hat trick on that devastating opening day 4-1 Bournemouth win.
And Ryan Fraser was also due to sign for Town until he was talked out of it by ex Town player with a grudge, Joe Harper. Or it could've just been down to the excessive wages that Eddie Howe was able to dish out.

Anyroad - back to the football, this lot have a crap away record so lets make the most of it so we can go darn sarf again next weekend with a smile on our faces and not having to "Mind The Gap" quite as much when we get there.

Just looking at fixtures. Four weeks to the next home game after today. What the chuff?! Let's get the hell out of this ridiculous league. It's utterly shambolic. Run just as a side show to that rubbish Champions League shite. Angry

Championship, bring it on! Tongue

Probably coincides with the international break and our amazing cup run...

Brighton winning means we're still looking at relegating Sarfamton on the last day. Problem is I was hoping it would be instead of us not as well as us.
Wilson back today and no Hoggy to remind him he's in a game.

One month of fixture madness, December, then the poor (mostly foreign) darlings want a break to get over it all and go on a skiing holiday. Apart from that it's 3 games a month, or 4 if you're in a domestic Cup longer than a round or two.

Of course the top 6 luvvies have ever such a hard time of it. They are fitter and faster than our lot for a reason though.
