Charlie Telfer - £204,000 Compensation Fee Imposed on Dundee Utd

I have two things to say:

1: Charlie Telfer - I would have preferred you to have stayed at Rangers and become a player we all could be proud of, wearing the famous Light Blue. However, with our current manager that would have been nigh-on impossible to achieve, and your desire to move away is understandable.

Good luck with your career, son. I look forward to cheering you on in the future for Scotland.

2: Stephen Thompson - Your long term company policy of paying under-the-odds compensation fees for players and managers has shown you up for the scoundrel you truly are. Here's a wee hint - if you want to take players from another club, pay the going f*cking rate.

GIRFUY, clown.

It seems the DUFC chairman was playing the 'new club' card to try and avoid paying the full training and development costs.
News for him - Rangers were not and have never been 'liquidated' and the Rangers' Oldco has not been liquidated (or 'wound-up') either.

Aye, if Thompson had happily sat round the table with Rangers instead of shooting his mouth off, there would more than likely have been an amicable agreement hammered out.

But he couldn't help himself, offered a derisory amount and tried to justify it by bending to the bigots in his own support. He's been a f*ckwit throughout it all, and even now he's whining like a wee lassie.

He seems to think the world owes him everyone's top young players for a pittance. It'll make him think twice next time, that's for sure. Thumb up

Can't do much for the boy's confidence with Thompson shouting to the world that he's worth nowhere near £200k. Bet it's a vastly different story in 2 or 3 years time when he's touting him round the English leagues.

Really?.... Dundee Utd will make him a player by giving him game time and allowing him to develop. You wouldn't have and that's why he left...you're only squabbling about the fee because you're in the grubber
Sometimes right and sometimes wrong, but always certain  Thumb up

Think you'll find the only squabbling over the fee is coming from Stephen Thompson.

He's got plenty previous for ripping off little clubs like Queen's Park. Well this time he tried to rip off a different animal altogether and got his fingers (and pockets) burned.

If he had any respect for his fellow football clubs and the work they do in player development he'd not be viewed as the parasitic used car salesman that he undoubtedly is.

Succinct :

Rangers has received today the decision of the SPFL Compensation Tribunal and are content with the fee Dundee United have been ordered to pay for the training and development of Charlie Telfer who was at the Club for a period of 10 years.

The payment awarded, which was significantly higher than Dundee United’s final offer, vindicates the Club’s decision to take the matter to a Compensation Tribunal.

Interesting how Rangers have changed that statement at some point today to remove the reference to DU chairman using the two year old club card that was in the first statement??

Yeah, apparently DU didn't proceed on that basis in the end. They realised they didn't have a leg to stand on, hence them making an improved offer to us a few weeks ago to try to avoid it going to tribunal where they knew the standard rate would result in this sort of fee. Presumably we knew this and it was only mentioned in the original statement as a 'get it right up ye' to that scalper Thompson.
