I've been there too QE, since I was 7 now 52 .......asking people to be quiet or to think about what their posting is one thing but to tell people to shut up is rather aggressive, consider other people's opinions, disagree by all means, dispute them, argue your point of view but don't make others feel as though they can't have their say ......

Not taking sides, not accusing just trying to find harmony and a happy medium .......

We won and another 38 of these will see us promoted ..... Harrah.

Pack the midfield ??????????????

Field for Barry with 3 minutes left ??????????????

who cares  we won
now shut up
a win is a win
yes we made it hard
but 3 points are ours

I care how we win.
Please don't tell me to "shut up"
I'm trying to reflect on how we could improve.
I'm greatful for the points and win though.

i think i can tell you to shut up
i been supporting the Albion since i was 10 years old i`m now 53
i have seen some great sides
also seen some piss poor ones
regardless of whether we win or lose or draw
i`m proud to wear my colours

wasnt you the one who stated that Hoolihan was a has been?
we are taking a back road by taking on "has beens"

i`m not having a go at you
but a 36 year old dont make him a has been
age is experience
and im sure he can bring experience to our squad
so please  dont spout rubbish about us signing over the hill players

53 your but a youngster, I'm looking at us building a new team and we ain't gonna do that by signing players
like Hoolahan & Mears. They can only help us in the short term. I want our youngsters to play a part in
our resurgence as an exciting young team. I see Roberts scored 2 goals for "Leeds" tonight - If he was still
here he wouldn't even be making the bench. Excuses like he ain't ready just keeps coming up. Do you see what i'm getting at.
I want Harper and Edwards given a chance before these has beens. Sure they can do a job for us, but they are not the future.

Third in the table is looking good. There is still some creases to be ironed out, especially defensively (12 goals conceded) and away from home, but overall we are doing better than I thought we would.

3rd after 8 matches with 20 goals scored. Let’s enjoy it rather than have squabbles.

Let me jump in the middle of this for a second. I think you are both right to a degree, as Quantum states a good experienced player is vital at this level, you need those players to guide the younger ones. Phil is right that they are not the future but where I would take exception to this is what is your future?? Your one and only goal this season should be an instant return to the PL, you don't need to rebuild a team for the future, you only need one for this season, you need to get promoted before the money drops next season. If you gain promotion there are about 2 of your players that you would keep in the PL, so players like Hoolihan are only ever going to be short term and they will be discarded if you gain promotion!!

You are up to 3rd place, there are very few good defences in this division, you need to score more goals down here generally and your forward line on paper is as good as any other in the division. Winning games 4-2 is exactly what you need, score goals and the defence don't need to be perfect, that takes the pressure off them and allows them to once in a while have a perfect game that you end up winning 1-0!!!

SCO, very good post from a neutral looking in ...... thank you.

If we can score one more goal than the opposition, we will go up ..... if we can do it building a squad for the future that we can take into and compete with the greed league, than that's a bonus ..... for now, let's enjoy the ride but take the valium along for the hair um scare um moments ......

Just back from tonight's game.

Some very good football going forward, with Barnes being the obvious standout player. Rodriguez played as good as I've seen him and Gayle was also excellent. Phillips was fantastic first half but too deep second, just like against Stoke.

The big problem remains the 3 at the back. Partly due to the personnel just not being good enough and partly due to the formation not suiting the players. The central defenders got their distances and line all wrong first half and it seemed any old hike forward would result in a chance for Bristol City. Being totally honest, we were lucky not to be behind before our goal spell.

Second half we were just as dodgy, failing to do fundamental defending and struggling with any ball coming into the box. It's early days for Bartley, but I simply can't see anything in him. He's slow, cumbersome and looks like giving away penalties every time balls come into the box. As for Hegazi, he remains a liability.

And when they try to play out, it's heart in the mouth stuff. I've always been a fan of pure football, but you can't coach that. A player can either play or he can't and these guys can't. The centre backs and goalkeeper need to know when to put their foot through the ball.

And much like against Blues and Stoke, second half we dropped deep and had little attacking threat. The worst thing about this is, it doesn't make us defend any better. It was simply a case of inviting 1 way traffic.

There was one occasion where Phillips was near our corner flag and just punted the ball forwards, real backs to the wall stuff. I looked at the clock and it was only 75 minutes. Seeing one off the best wingers in the league doing this so deep should happen in the 95th minute when you're hanging on for dear life against superior opposition, not when you're 4-2 up at home to Bristol City. Clearly something went wrong 2nd period.

Overall, we saw the power of our attack and saw that if teams come at us at home, we are capable of outscoring them. But we also saw some vital flaws that need addressing. The formation needs to be more flexible and we need to be able to pack the midfield when we're winning.

Good cameo from Hoolahan when he came on. Still looks very lean and showed some nice touches and composure when we needed it. I do think the signing was rather 'desperate' but he showed his worth in helping to settle the game tonight.

In the blue corner, Phil Penn
In the red corner, Quantum Enigma

“My Dads bigger than your Dad” comes to mind or, is it the resurrection of Firey Moose?

What a hoot!

"Firey Moose" - there's a name from the past. Probably the most extraordinary poster I have ever read on these forums - and not in a good way. I wonder if he is still out there in some other guise. Hope you are well Baggieman.

I have great respect QE and his opinions, I have not criticised anything he said. I'm happy to debate, but no personal stuff. He's got his thoughts I've got mine, nothing to see here really.
