Prediction League Results/Tables Week 5
#1

Much better scoring this week, mainly due to much better use of the bonus and Gamball!!! I expect we will see a bit of movement in the table this week as well. This weeks top scorer was Lord Snooty with a very good 24 points, courtesy of 6 point scoring predictions, including a spot on Gamball and Bonus Ball!! He was closely followed by his fellow Terrier, Amelia, with 20 points, more points this week than she had amassed in the first 4 weeks worth of predictions!! Close behind in 3rd spot was the very consistent Beefy with 18 points, who like the two above him scored on 6 of the 10 games this week, including the Gamball.

There then followed 4 players separated by one point - Sanjay & BBB on 16 points followed by Matt and Derby on 15 points!! All 4 picked up points on the Gamball with only Derby missing the maximum but still getting the correct result!! BBB worthy of a mention for picking up points on 7 of the 10 predictions and had he actually picked up points on his BB he would have easily been in the top 3!!

Bit of a gap down to this weeks stragglers. In 8th place was SCO with 8 points. I missed both the Gamball and the BB but due to 2 correct scores, including the 2-1 win for my beloved Owls, I managed to avoid a disaster of a week. That brings me nicely to Zinman and Worldclass, who finished on 6 & 4 points respectively, neither of them managed to get one correct score this week!! Zinman again did not play the Gamball so saved those points as he once again got the prediction wrong anyway!! Poor Worldclass got the Gamball wrong, one of 7 predictions he got wrong and if it wasn’t for a correct result on the BB he would have ended up with our first negative score!!!!

Cheers
SCO

In a week when above average scores were posted by many there were lots of climbs up the table, while a few less spectacular scores led to fairly hefty drops in the table  Thumb down .

Matt was one of only two predictors to stay in the same place as last week and considering that’s top it’s probably the most important position to keep hold of. His lead at the top is 6 points from a new challenger to his top spot, in the shape of Beefy  Wink , who continued his climb up the table into a clear 2nd equalling his season high points total of two weeks ago.

New faces in 3rd, 4th and 5th this week as BBB, Snooty and Sanjay climb 2, 5 and 2 places respectively with season best scores registered by BBB and Snooty who equalled the seasons best weekly score across the 2 leagues.

Zinman was one of the less spectacular performers  Blush  as he slid three places down into a share of 5th, while Derby maintained last weeks position of 7th and is now only a solitary point away from those directly above him.

Worldclass was the second of three to suffer a fall of three places in the table down to 8th, as St Charles made up the trio by dropping three places down into the play off place that will come into effect at the end of the season.

Amelia more than doubled her tally for the season in one fell swoop and after such a good week would possibly have moved off the bottom on merit  Thumb up even if DD hadn’t gone AWOL for the second week running to drop to the basement.

Bomber

Last week the gamball didn't play a huge role in deciding the league positions - this week it was decisive. 4eva was thankful for Stoke's late goal to give him maximum gamball points which together with bonus and scoreball points gave him leadership of this week's table.

5 other players got the gamball result right and they filled the next 5 places. In second place came Quantum with his best score of the season so far with Turkeydinner in 3rd, just 1 point behind.

This season's Mr Consistent, Themaclad, was 4th with his worst score to date - but to put this in context, his worst of 13 is still better than The Jokers best.

Spiritematt was 5th and, despite being the worst performer in terms of correct predictions, Baggieone came 6th - fortunately for him his 3 correct predictions just happened to be his gamball, bonus and scoreball.

4 players chose to mistrust Albion and as a result they occupy the last 4 places. Stairs actually got the same number of correct scores and predictions as this week's leader but suffered on all his balls. After a strong start, Bomber appears to be faltering with a second week of single figures but was saved by his bonus.

Joker and Twerton both got all balls wrong with Joker just avoiding this week's wooden spoon due to getting one score right.

Zin

The musical chairs for position in the Premiership was replicated in the Championship as only the top 2 and the bottom 2 remain the same as last week.

It’s a takeover bid at the top as two of our “non Baggies” lead the way Sad with Themaclad out in front for the fifth week running coinciding with his fifth successive Gamball as well, he leads by 10 points from Turkeydinner who turned in yet another consistent week. These two are threatening to be away and clear as they turn in decent scores week after week.

4eva was the big climber with a seasons best, as he jumped 2 places into a share of 3rd making it four double figure weeks in a row Smartass , while Bomber slid a place from last week as he posted his second successive single figure score in a row Sick .

Spireite was another to lose a position in 5th, but was also another who holds a 100% record on scoring points on the Gamball, he’s hotly pursued by the improving Quantum, climbing two places into 6th.

Making way and falling two places down to 7th is BaggieOne who suffered as those around him outscored his average week though he is only a solitary point back, while Stairs is again suffering at the hands of the Gamball, losing the maximum 15 points over the 5 weeks that would see him in 3rd and not his lowly 8th if he had followed the lead of Zin and not played it.

Our bottom 2 remain unchanged as both Twerton and Joker returned lowly scores to keep them both a fair few points adrift of those above them Thumb down .

Its still early days but my form is terrible so far. The Gamball and BB are killing my scores, I am -14 points on them combined with only one correct score on each of them!!! Luckily there is only 10 points between me, third from bottom, and BBB who is third from the top!!! Didn’t someone once say its a marathon, not a sprint!!!!

SCO, New scoring system seems to be working, people are not being unduly punished for incorrect results and gamballs or fluking sixteen pointers therefore it's a more level playing field and the league's are closer. The then and now comparison is good, I am up on last year ...... wouldn't it be good if last year's comparative table was done using this year's scoring to great an accurate comparison of players performance but would be too much work .....

Good luck ... keep plugging away it's a ...... oh you've said that already.

Yes I did SCO, and my slow start is killing me this Year Laugh
More so when you see the likes of Zinny treading water Rolleyes
4Eva your bang on the scoring really has kicked in well, and all four of us on the the team debated this all summer for a scoring system that worked and we have hit the nail on the head (I think),
Add in the fact that the playoffs are added this season I would suggest that most of us will have something to play for right up until the last day,
So erm well done us 4 Laugh Also Bomber has done a comparative table on another thread for you to view,
On there please note slow starter Beefys comparison to last year, The premiership guys are wondering just what has hit them ........... Its Beefytime Thumb up

Beefy, I think I had an input into the new scoring system as well, well done me, pat on my back by me, I saw bombers superb comparison post, he puts some work in, doe e. It's not quite an accurate like for like picture because some of my scores last year were 16 pointers, a comparison using the same scoring would show our progress ........ but I don't want to give statsman any more work to do, he does a great job as it is.
