Hull vs WBA - Match Thread
Tidy

Fair play to you for your opinion Thumb up

However you just stated our last few games in Arsenal, chelski etc etc,

What about Oxford, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Swansea, hull, A flukey win against Leicester (without that OG we would have been bottom but one)

Anyway my point is why is AI l telling us porkies as well Whistle

Pick the bones out of this lot just last week,

"I can't play Saido and Ideye together, Im sure Ideye will get his opportunity",

So on Saturday Saido is rested does he give Ideye his Chance Whistle

Then the happy clappers will say AI thought Victor was a better bet,

Ok was he ?

"I can't Play Varela for the full 90 Minutes he is not fully fit"

Today

" Victor went off injured, it was a bit of a Gamble as he took a knock against West Ham, he was not a 100% fit"

Really !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Just cant get my head around Ivines tactics, and even what he says comes across as making us supporters think we know fook all,
He is contradicting himself every time he opens his gob.

The real worry is the players of Foster and Lescott's irk backing him.

The players have had it far to easy with this idiot, and the backroom staff are all of the same.

We need a manager NOW to break this rot that has set in, move away from this head coach philosophy and allow a new broom to sweep clean,

Sad thing is I want Albion to beat the Villa as all my family and in laws are Villa fans,
However this will buy Irvine more time to take us into the Championship.

I HOPE I WRONG Sick

I notice that we are being split, as tends to happen with supporters, between those that are right and the 'happy clappers'.

I'm not a happy clapper, far from it. Just peed off with constant negativity. If it's not the players getting it then it's the manager and if it's not either of them then it's JP. It's non-stop.

Tidy - I agree with most of what you say.
I too think that with just a tad more positivity in his selections, and getting the team to press further up the pitch, we'd be thinking AI was doing a good job.
Well, MOST of us Whistle

The irony is that these wouldn't have to be drastic changes to what he's doing now. Doh

I can't see how anyone can defend Irvine, he makes more glaringly obvious mistakes than any
other manager that we've had in a long time.

Not only that, but the guy has a huge inferiority complex...

Unfortunately, that inferiority complex is rubbing off on some of our fans who seem to think it's
acceptable playing against sides who are much worse than us and playing for a draw.

What people seem to be forgetting is the fact that we have a damn good squad this year with 2
or more good players for every position.

We have a £10m striker on the bench, players who have scored in World Cups and European
Championships on the bench, hell, we've got a guy who scored a competitive goal at the Nou
Camp last season who isn't deemed good enough for a start in our second string...

Yet despite this wealth of talent, we can go to places like Leicester and Hull and not create a
chance. As for the home games, I don't remember mid table sides ever dismissing us with
such ease like Newcastle and Everton did (not even in the Megson era when we had a side that
was mainly lower league players)...

Look at our squad list and then compare it to Burnley, Leicester, Sunderland, Palace, Hull, QPR
and even Aston Villa. How many players from any of these sides would get into our team?
I'd say somewhere between 0-4 and yet we're still going to these teams away scared sh*tless
to attack them. Hell, 2 of these sides have come and outplayed us on our own patch.

Let's look at the real picture here. We won at Leicester because of an own goal in a game where
we didn't create a single chance. We only drew against Palace because the referee made a couple
of glaringly obvious mistakes in our favor. Had it not been for luck, we could be bottom of the
table now with a squad that IMO is comparable to the likes of Swansea.

Not only are we sh*t, but we play uninspiring, boring, one dimensional football.

Irvine neglects to select anyone with any invention because of the fear of losing a defender. He
takes attacking players off even when we are playing against sides that are there for the taking.

I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that Irvine is learning. I haven't seen a single team
selection this season that the fans agree is anywhere near the best. He doesn't select players
who compliment each other.

I'm very worried that every draw which delays him getting the sack is leaving the next manager
in a very tough situation. We've already failed in many 'winnable' games this season. We have
some real games coming up and it could be too little too late if we don't act quickly.

Hit the nail on the head there, Slick.

Look at Bournemouth in the cup, 3 defensive midfielders? Against a Championship team? No width? No pace? Sit back and defend for 90 mins?

Can't wait for the pre-match conference against Gateshead:

"They're a good side with a lot of players who can really hurt us, we have to respect them, they are playing well and we will have to be at our very best if we want to get a replay out of this one. We need to sit back and soak up the pressure, if Anichebe can get us a penalty then we may even win it."

Hopefully he is gone by then though.

Seems to me he has his favorites period.

How dare he say someone is not near fit then claims Anachebe WAS NOT yet started against Hull.
Morrison misses two weeks then steps back into the team straight away,
And Dorrans is Obviously undroppable,...........

Obviously  Doh

Tidy the Happy clapper was not aimed at you  Thumb up

Who is the happy clapper name aimed at then Beefy? Are we not entitled to our opinion without being classed as a happy clapper? If not then what is the point of us posting on this site? I also think you'll find that we have been critical of Irvine just as much as you guys have, it's just that we guys don't want him gone because we can see some positives.

Berahino and Ideye are similar players so they can't play together. Irvine chose Anichebe for his brute strength against Chester and Dawson which worked because he gave them a tough time and won us our penalty. Him not being full fit is unfortunate but he did his job and then came off for Berahino with fresh legs.

Varela has not been able to start matches because he has been lacking match fitness which is obvious given that he hasn't played proper competitive football since the World Cup. Now that he has had 65 minutes of game time in the past 2 matches, he is well on his way to becoming match fit. Morrison has been in the team most of the season so it is easier for him to come back in after 2 weeks because he won't have to build up his match fitness again or at least nowhere near as much as Varela will have to.

As for Dorrans, I think he has been fine this season. He hasn't set the world on fire but he has been decent. Of course he wouldn't be in most people's best 11's and probably not even mine but he has been a good option whilst we wait for Varela and Blanco to get fit and ready to play again.

"Happy Clappers" is not aimed at anyone in particular Josh.

A lot from one or two other sites use this term who stick up for Irvine 100%, but i wouldn't label it at anyone on here as none of you completely disagree with what we are saying.

However you are missing my point about big Vic,

My point was not that he was picked before Ideye but Irvine admitted he wasn't fit.

Not being fit is the reason Half the squad has not been picked this season so why change that now Huh

What message has that sent out to Ideye.

it's no wonder he can't perform when he is given such short periods to play and now a unfit player is chosen over him, not only does that go against the grain of what Irvine has been saying but what little confidence Ideye had has probably been shot to pieces now Dodgy

Quite like that! Big Grin Big Grin

IMO this thread shows just why this site is so good - the posters may well have completely different opinions but there's very rarely any fur flying Thumb up

Like most I was shocked by the appointment of Irvine but gave him a chance and to be fair up till 5 games ago it was an ok start to the season.
However, just look at our home record over the last 2 seasons !!!!!
It's a bloody disgrace !
Now last season is nothing to do Irvine fair enough so who's fault is it ?
Supporters ? Not a chance, to not turn on the players shows devotion and humanity Baggievicar would be proud of!
So that leaves the players....and back room staff.
If they love the manager so much maybe it's about time they started putting a bit of graft in ?
Foster,Lescott,Poco,Gardner are doing the business and look a solid base and Berahino if he can get his head straight and Mulumbu.
Just need to fill the gaps and we should be ok.
