Varela on for Sess Laugh

What an idiot. That is just a like for like change. Just waiting for Hull to put us out of our misery now.

This match is a relegation battle and it was always going to be a tight match. That means that even we wanted to go out and attack Hull, we wouldn't be able to because there was never going to be any space to attack and it would leave gaps that hull could exploit. Just look at hull when we have the ball, they have 8 men on the edge of their box. It has been like that for the whole match. Even with Varela on the pitch, there wouldn't have been any space for him to exploit. His impact would have been little and we would have wasted him. His impact against West Ham dropped after they doubled up on him, the same would have happened today.

Saving him for now is a much better option because now when he has the chance, he can run at the tired Hull defenders and as hull start to push further forward in search of a goal which is what they are now doing, there will be more space for Varela to exploit.

Doubling up on Varela leaves space for someone else. Can counter your every comment because we all have an opinion and yes i do get insulted when someone gives me an exclamation mark. You are a very good poster mate and very very knowledgable but your not always right. Hope you are today though. Respect others opinions but no need for the !

I'm praying for either an Albion or Hull goal, can't take a 0-0 especially knowing that AI will still be in a job for the Vile game.

I'm sorry if the exclamation mark insulted you in any way but it is just an exclamation mark. It has never hurt anyone in the past and it wasn't intended to hurt you. I also know I'm not always right. I have never said that I expect to always be right or that I am always right, that is for fools like fireymoose.

As for doubling up on Varela, West Ham doubled up on Varela on Tuesday night but it didn't leave much space for anyone else because of the sheer numbers that West Ham had in defence. Hull would have done the same thing today and Varela wouldn't have had much chance to make an impact.

My opinion is that Irvine has got it right today by choosing to save Varela for the 2nd half because of how the match has turned out which was to be expected. You feel differently and that is absolutely fine by me. This site is for debating things like this after all.

Depending on how Varela's match fitness levels are now with an extra 25 minutes of game time, we could see him start against Villa especially given that we will be the home team and it is a derby match.

Full time and we have stopped the rot at least. A win would have been so much better but it's a start.

If only Dorrans had put that spot kick away....

Poor team selection again, far to few shots on target again. Hull are very poor but so are we. Only one person to blame. A points a point but not looking good is it?

Varela on for Sess, whats that about? A joke of a head coach, surely Dozza should have been withdrawn at that point.

I'm sorry but we won't see us play a worse team than that this season! Even Burnley have more teeth upfront than that lot.

I'm normally pretty optimistic and I've supported AI as much as I can but they were the wrong tactics AGAIN! Narrow narrow narrow. And play for a 0-0! Bullshit!

Pathetic, woeful, dire, abject.

Yet another waste of money and a Saturday afternoon for the travelling fans, respect to them for travelling all that way knowing what would happen. The worst part of it all is that AI will keep his job and will lead us to defeat against the Vile.

Start the slowest and most narrow team in PL history, then wait until we are on the back foot and throw on our best attacking players into some dis-jointed formation with no time to make any sort of impact. Please, Alan, do the decent thing and walk away - you are so out of your depth it is embarrassing.

Sorry but that is still unacceptable. Pathetic selection and tactics. Granted we had a penalty but all the same!

Replace him now and have a chance. Let him stay in post and we will suffer a long and painful death
