Belgium got away with one there. Thoroughly enjoyable match and good on Chadli for making a positive impact.

Well done to Japan for their showing tonight and in previous matches. They have been well drilled out of possession in a 442 and then attack in a fluid 4231 with width and freedom. They’re only problem is height in the team which Fellaini and Lukaku showed tonight. I’d take their number 3 Shoji to play in our defence, I thought he was good.  

Martinez has to be less naïve against Brazil because he can’t play that same system against Neymar, Coutinho, Willian and Jesus. He has to go either 4231 or match up Brazil with their own 433 and put Fellaini or Dendoncker into the midfield.

Uruguay vs France and Brazil vs Belgium on Friday. Wow.

Whilst I think he will leave, I wouldn’t mind him staying as long as he can prove his fitness and stay fit for the season. His quality when fit should be too much for Championship defences especially if we could play him as a 10.

Having said that though, if a team offers £17 million then we should take it and put that money to strengthening the defence and strikers.

I agree that his substitutions changed the match. Fellaini in particular was a very good choice and Chadli did a better job than Carrasco.

I think against Brazil, he has start to bring in Fellaini for Carrasco and move to a 433 because 343 against Brazil will be asking for trouble. Meunier, Alderwiereld, Kompany and Vertonghen as a back four with Witsel sitting in front, De Bruyne and Fellaini further forward and then the fluid front 3 of Mertens, Lukaku and Hazard.

How that Carasco gets a start for Belgium is a mystery to me. Chadli done more in a few minutes than that carasco has done in the whole tournament.

Carrasco is a quality player but Martinez doesn’t use him right. In his career at Monaco and Atletico Madrid he was used as a proper left winger. He does his defensive duty and then when the team attacks, he is very dangerous coming inside onto his right foot.

Belgium have an abundance of wingers and for whatever reason Martinez wants to play with wingers as wing backs (Meunier is a right back but has always played more like a winger ever since his Club Brugge days). I can understand it because Belgium are not stocked strongly at full back but it doesn’t get the best out of Carrasco.

In my opinion they look better with Vertonghen at left back and then one of the quality left wingers further forward. It looks more balanced and less lopsided.

Chadli has never been interested in West Brom - always injured but all of a sudden is fine to play for Belgium. Get rid of the selfish twot now and take the money.

Strange how most people are wishing England to the final now - as I do, however prior to the tournament we wished as a young team for them only to get out of the group stages. 
So along comes the media and hypes them up, which will in turn add pressure on the players to perform. 
So why can't the bloody media and people dub down and allow them to enjoy the experience, and be ready to shine in further tournaments?

So Sweden beat Switzerland 1-0.  They won't win the tournament but they are very tough to beat and whoever wins tonight will have a tough game against them. They are very similar to Iceland in height and organisation but they can also play it well on the floor.

England vs Colombia tonight. I'm more of a neutral so all I hope for is a good match.

My thoughts exactly on Sterling, his first touch has been awful, ball bounces off him every time. He is great when running at pace with the ball, but he needs to control it first!!
