Was a quality game that SCO. I remember watching it at a mates house on SKY as we couldn't go. Those are the days when it truly was a joy to watch Wednesday, for me anyway

Those were the day that even as a season ticket holder I would still end up queuing for tickets for some games!! Life revolved around working out when tickets went on sale to ST holders just so I could get mine!! That game and the Burnley 5th round ties in the 82-83 season will always stick in my mind!!

Fook it !! I hate coming to this goal scorer party late. It's like being at a party where all your mates have got the good looking birds and your left scrounging around for the left overs !!! Ah here we go....

1-2 Maguire

Not a bad choice !!!

That reminds me of another soft spot I have for Blackburn Thumb up Back in the 90's, when they were good, they were playing Beeston Beasts in the league cup at Bellend Road and asked if they could use our ground (Farsley Celtic) for a warm up and light training session during the day. A few of us took the kids down on special invite as it was supposed to be top secret. Colin Hendry was magnificent that day, along with Shearer and LeSaux plus all the others whose names I can't recall (I think Sutton had left by then). They couldn't do enough for the kids and none of them had the bloody silly attitudes players have now. I still remember talking shite with Colin whilst sat on our 10 step concrete kop Laugh They were practicing penalties at one bit and Colin was telling me what each player would do and whether they'd miss or not, using sexual swear words, as they stepped up.

Our young un, who's now 27 Confused , still recalls the day he met Shearer in his pomp, practiced with him and has the personalised signed photo's, taken on the day by the Blackburn staff, to prove it Thumb up

I couldn't see owt like what Blackburn did for us that day happening in this era Doh

I don't see him making any changes aside from Lee coming in for Semedo. That for me is one of our problems, our squad is fairly small and in reality there is little or no competition for places. For example:

Westwood - first name on team sheet, no competition in reality
Lees/Loovens - only competition is Dielna, so no matter what they are secure
Palmer - is Buxton fit? If not, no competition
Helan - Mattock now back in training, so some competition here
Drenthe - Maghoma is in the wings, as is maybe Lavery, so he has to play ok to keep his place
Lee/McGugan - Semedo suspended but does provide competition, Coke, Hutchinson injured, McCabe etc no chance, so in reality we have a central midfield of 2 with only 3 players really fighting for them!!
Maguire - SG loves him, I think he has been mediocre this season. Maybe Maghoma/Lavery/Helan can compete but it would appear not!!
May/Nuhiu - Lavery coming back may provide some competition but SG will play him out wide, so with Madine sent to Coventry, again no competition!!

I am sure I have missed someone but there is no where near enough competition for the 11 spots in that lot. Not saying the players don't work hard and give it all they have, but sometimes a player needs dropping to wake him up and at the very least they need to feel they have to perform every game to keep their place!!
