I got shot down for that comment on another forum, but yes he couldn't be any worse........... when he was at Stoke he did well against us for yrs.So yes till the end of the season and then see whats what then.
Thats my point really if we beat Hull and he gets a reprieve,he gets to be in charge against Villa and we loose.......back to square one....

Honestly i don't think we'll sack him because despite all the frustrations the results arnt that bad i know we're near the bottom but what results do we honestly think should be different? We probably should have beaten Sunderland and Palace and drew to west ham losing 5 points of which 4 points were gained from the Spurs and Utd games.
From now if results don’t pick up now then we will have big problems, as villa and hull should be games where we should be getting at least 4 points from but that doesn’t qualify for a sacking now. Obviously from a fans perspective the performances are what matters but to the chairman and manager it’s the results to which it’s not awful I’d say just below par. We can all want the sacking to happen like we all wanted someone (anyone) else to be hired but it wont happen. As for Pulis, if we are going to sack Irvine we need better not the same. We need a name that the players and fans will respect.
I honestly would of sacked him today to give us the best chance of beating Hull and Villa, the only problem is when/if we get rid of him we'll no doubt be looking for a new manager for the next 2 months or another worry is they'll give the job to Downing having seen Monk doing so well Swansea
What has happened to football supporters?
I blame social media for the sudden explosion of experts. We need to get back to having a quick rant in the pub.
After a couple of unhappy days regarding what has been happening with this club recently, I think we should just take it 1 match at a time.
Now that Irvine has seen what Varela and more positivity can do, he will hopefully start to be more positive in his team selections and the tactics that he employs. He has to really because we are only 2 points above the relegation zone after 4 straight defeats. Obviously I'm not expecting us to go out in every match and try to boss the opposition but a bit more positivity especially at home is certainly needed. Last nights team selection and tactics in the first 20 matches is hopefully the start of it. I have been behind Irvine fully until recently where I have lost patience with his refusal to tweak things but I still want him to be successful with us because if he is successful then the club is successful.

OK.
Like Josh above, I too have been fully supportive of AI until recently but the line ups and perceived tactics of the last 3 or so games have led to me having doubts; we have also been reminded of exactly the same things happening at AI's previous clubs. This is a big worry; I was prepared to believe that he may well have changed his outlook since his days in charge at Preston & SW, but the last few games have MORE than suggested that he hasn't. Last night's game: only saw the 2nd half but I believe that we were very good and positive for the first 15 mins; in the 2nd half we were VERY positive and looked like a very motivated team with a good deal of ability. Even when pushing forward to the ridiculous degree that we did in the final 20 mins we still had an organised look about us. Will this be the turning point for AI? Was he doing this to appease the fans; to try and get something out of the game; to save his job? If he feels it was the latter - and that's very possible - then he'd be foolish not to recognise the talent that he CAN pick from, and the difference in the crowd that the 2nd half performance created. My view is that he WILL see that as I don't think for a minute that he is stupid, and that he may well slowly start to integrate more positivity into the starting XI in terms of the players he picks AND the ones he has been loyal to. I really hope he does start to change things; I think he is a decent man who is doing his best. He wants good results as much as any of us do and a good couple of results in the next 2-3 games could really change things and give the players the confidence that they obviously need right now. IMO crowds are generally very impatient and turn on a manager too early after just a few bad performances; I understand the argument "I've paid my money and I've got a right to give my opinion", and all that, but all it does is create a very tense atmosphere where both the HC & players are not able to give their best. It saddens me to say that IMO we are creating that ATM at home, and that's not going to do any good to anyone. Time will tell whether AI is good enough to do the job, but I hope he's given a fair(er) chance to give it a good try.

Well as I've previously said to the doubters, if he puts on a display like last night - the first 15 minutes, and the second half, by the use of players everyone has been moaning to use, he will stay - and he'll win games.
I hope. BBB |
