Could be a first round shock on the cards here. Mark Selby 7-2 down to Joe Perry after the first session.

There are likely only 2 players who can beat Ronnie - and Selby is one of them, so to see him struggle opens it up for Ronnie!!

Of course the only other player who can beat Ronnie, is Ronnie himself!!!

That's true. Most of the time he's unplayable but on occasions he just doesn't turn up with his A game. Opponents try to frustrate him as well, but he seems more focussed these days.

With his temperament he has done the right thing and not worried about his ranking and chosen to play in less tournaments each year. He is as good as any player to have played the game, but his mind stops him too often to match the Davis or Hendry levels of consistency.

Perry leads Selby 9-4 at the break, needing one more frame to knock the defending champion out.

This afternoon, Ronnie the Rocket lost the opening session 6-3 to On Fire Maguire.

Joe Perry finishing off in style. The world number 1 is out.

Higgins looks in good form. Beat Jack Lisowski 13-1 today. Ding's looking good as well. He leads 8-0 against McGill.
