Turns out clubs who get relegated out of the league get parachute payments.

Guess where that money will go? Not to strengthen the squad I'll bet.
In answer to your question Dev, I would put most of the retained squad on the transfer list, sit them all down and say "This is the way it is - stay and you wont play, you will not be picked, go find another club now while you can because if you stay here another 12 months you will never get another club" Get rid of Wright and our coaching staff and give Llera a dual role with both Jack and him bringing on our younger players giving them game time. If we keep Talbot Hird and Evatt that give us the nucleus of a strong leadership core. Am sure Evatt would make a great player/coach. Its obvious Jack cant do it on his own so lets build a team around him. Jack, Evatt and Llera would be good combination in my eyes, then get rid of all the dross and crap we have atm.

Problem with that theory Dancing is that if they stayed and didn't play we would have to play the youth because the current players would take up all of the budget. We would have no choice but to play them. Its a game of brinksmanship.
I agree we should give Llera and Evo a chance ,Llera has done ok with the youth and Evo has a lot of passion and seems to be a good leader although that isn't the pre requisite to success as a manager.

I'm not sure Sutton want the trouble involved with going up. They've allowed a ten point gap to open up with Macclesfield at the top. Why suddenly?

Whilst Tranmere play the fat b&*t&*d at the back I always feel they are setting themselves up to fail. I kinda think Fylde will achieve their ambition three years ahead of the plan.

Blue do you really think any of the current squad are good enough for the National Lge? If we play them we will get nowhere. If they cant get themselves up for a relegation battle they don't deserve a shirt IMO.

Dancing you have misunderstood my message.... again .
I'm saying we can't force these players out and if they refuse to go we will not be able to add to the squad so are stuck with them.

Listening to Jack tonight he sounded like a beaten man trying desperately to find some positives from another defeat . I must say looking at the brief highlights it could have been 8-2 to them .
The fact he insists on playing Brad Barry and Brown, neither of whom don't really contribute anything to the team makes me wonder if Jack is up to the task.To play Barry in a wing back position is a total waste of a position. He drops Kellett ,our most creative player and within 5 minutes of him coming on scores .He casts Rowley out to the wilderness in favour of Brown and Hines and within 5 minutes of bringing him on he creates a goal .
The defence did ok on Saturday and he chose to completely change it .Why ??.
His January recruitment on the whole has been pretty poor and hasn't improved us one bit.
Having said all this there are some mitigating circumstances ,injuries etc ,so I am of the opinion we should allow him more time to try and build a team that will get us out of the Conference .We have played good stuff at times and he did say he needed 4 windows but I don't think he will get more than 2 if things don't improve .The summer window is the true test of recruiting ability as there is more time to plan it, whereas the January window is frantic and knee jerky and I think Jack is ruthless enough to make the big decisions this summer.

Blue, I didn't misunderstand. I asked a question which you haven't answered.
If we put everybody on the transfer list and told them no matter what they wont get a game next year I would bet a fair percentage would find another club. Tell the rest to stay away, it might make them think on. It doesn't cost us much more to play our own youngsters so our wage bill can reduce. With Evatt Hird and Talbot we have mature heads that can bring them on. Maguire and Rowley are the only other players I would hang on to along with German who has proved he can do it, he just needs better coaching to bring it back again.
I would take 2 or 3 seasons in the National League if it saw us developing our youth and bringing them through to the first team with a structured set up, bring back the reserve team and lets get some steady progression.
If we stick with what we have with a few odd ball signings this summer I can honestly see us going down yet again.

Dave Allen has a lot to answer for and the future looks bleak whilst ever he holds the reigns. If we do end up doing a Stockport there's a certain Rugby League team a few miles away who are homeless. It wouldn't be the first time they played in Chesterfield. Stockport sold the ground to Sale Rugby Club, Dave Allen might do something very similar.

We do clearly need to transfer-list a lot of players and release others who are the end of their contracts. I would want to keep Whitmore because it sounds as though he has done okay and has good non-league experience into the bargain. Much as all of Bobs seem to think he has been a complete let-down, I like the sound of Binnom-Williams and I still think we might have a player there. Equally Gozie Ugwu has never had much chance and IF his injury is not career-threatening we should remember the 19 goals he scored for Woking last season playing at our new level. I'd keep Parkin as reserve keeper too and yes we urgently need somewhere for reserves to get regular games and improve.

IF we committed just to spend any fee from Dennis (his contract doesn't run out in May does it? I hope!!) on players - for the only time in our history - we could recruit the basics of a side with that money. I think Beautyman went to Sutton for £40,000, Dagenham for financial reasons sold Morgan Ferrier (an England C player) for £30,000. These are good players who would walk into our current side and would be potential promotion-winning players in the Vanarama. If Dennis fetched £200,000 that could be four or five new really good faces. I can't see even in-contract players from Dulwich Hamlet, Kidderminster, and the financially challenged half of the Conference costing a lot. But we need a non-league man to find them, not Tommy (we had this lad at Barnsley) Wright. Obviously our parachute payment will be needed to provide parachutes for Mr Allen and family and will be unavailable for recruitment .... and will soon be lost to sight.
