Indeed, Mulumbu who has been a standout for a few years suddenly looks like a Championship player under Irvine. His confidence looks completely shot.
Yacob, who was by far our standout player in the Oxford and Hull games, is thrown in for his first game against Chelsea - Great way to smash his confidence from the off...
He hasn't even tried to bleed Ideye into the side and has managed to make him look like a 'bung' without barely kicking a ball.
The guy is completely out of his depth. And that's the thing with managing in the Premier League, you have to know how to handle these prima donnas to get the best out of them. Irvine's interviews and theories make him sound exactly like what he is, a coach who has never had to deal with top level players.
There's a big gulf in working with academy kids and managing £10m internationals. I'd be more than willing to back him if there was any evidence he could make the step up, but on current evidence, he's taking us to the level that he's used to managing at...

has preseason finished I thought we were still playing friendlies, no cutting edge, apparent lack of desire to get forward and win, surely the season will be starting soon ........ I have never known it start so late.
We were warned by both Wednesday and Preston fans that this would be the case ........ but who would you put in to replace AI after the team have been treated and made to look like mugs ........... like last season we appear to have a strong squad but not getting the results. Something is wrong somewhere ........... I am a west brom fan get me out of here. Sorry wrong forum
