Scolari was a genius when he was younger and one of the World’s best but now he is 69 (giggity) and coming to the end of his career. For a couple of seasons he’d be good but he’s not necessarily the long term option.

If he’s the man the club wants then of course I’d back him 100%. His big name could bring in some quality players especially from Brazil where there is some top young talent coming through. For example, Everton (Gremio), Lincoln (Flamengo), Artur Gomes (Santos) and Brenner (Sao Paolo). He could even go as far as to create a mini Shakhtar Donetsk with us which would be bloody spiffing. (Anyone that knows me from the old BBC 606 will know my fondness for Shakhtar Donetsk)

Overall I’d prefer a young coach. A Dean Smith or a Hannes Wolf but an old head with World experience could also be great for the club for a couple of years.

Given he has been in China for the last 3 years wining 3 straight league titles, I’m sure Mr Lai will have witnessed his success and maybe even talked to him.

Josh,  I personally don't think that any club, or supporter,  can look at any Head Coach as a "long term option"..... those days are gone.
IMHO he'd be fantastic - spiffing, even - for 1 or hopefully 2 years

Interesting that Scolari doesn't mention the club......I suspect it's more likely to be Southampton putting out feelers in case they go down. Wasn't Hughes given the job just until the end of the season?
