Some good irons in that fire jjamez. Doubt Rogers would walk away from Celtic as Town aren't going to be in Europe any time soon. Then again, me and thee could probably manage Celtic for a season between us and they'd still finish top dogs in Scotland and bomb out in Europe. Think I'd prefer someone with just a few years coaching experience under their belts than someone fresh out of retirement from playing, regardless of their playing abilities.

The right former player with the right backroom staff would work, but you're then looking for 3 or 4 people instead of 1

I think the most important signing will be a Nahki Wells type player. Somebody who will score that all important winner in games like the Swansea's match. Mounie and Depoitre are too alike.

Yes snoots thats the big thing we are missing. But I would say less a player who will score but more someone who offers something different.
Dont think we have the money or the pulling power to get someone who has pace and is clinical, think it'll be a case of getting someone with pace and hope they score.
If we stay up I'd be tempted to look at shane long at Southampton. Fits our current ethos of work rate, but the goals would be the issue. Think its a problem with only really being able to have three strikers in the squad for our system and the two we have are similar.
Ideally we need someone who doesn't need to think when the ball breaks to him. Mounie had a great chance in the first half and took so long to react and control the ball we couldn't capitalise

A couple of midfielders to supply the right ammo would be better signings. I don't doubt our current strike force can score but neither Harry Kane nor Mo Salah would have a fraction of the goals they've scored this season if they were playing for Town the last two seasons. The lack of incisive passes and crosses in and around the box is the main argument anyone can have about Town under Wagner.

Id be more inclined to say crosses into the box over incisive passes from the midfield

Whether wide or central midfield, we don't unlock defense s often enough. Doesn't matter if it's an incisive pass through the middle or an incisive cross. We don't do either often enough.

Id also question whether the players have the intelligence to get into the right places. Kachunga last season scored a few goals by being in the right area at the back post but this season none of quaner, raniv or ince have been willing to gamble to the back post instead lurk out side of the area

If we were to survive this season, then in an ideal world, this seasons best eleven would be next seasons backup. That's just pure fantasy I know. But serious money would need to be invested next season if we remain in this league, as I simply cannot see the current squad pulling off another miracle! It's exactly what I said elsewhere when we won through in the play offs last season, only to be derided for my assessment. Only to find in a short period of time, it was obvious that our management agreed 100%. Lets see how we are at the seasons end, or where we are more's the point.

Wingers, wingers, wingers. Ince has been a complete flop. VLP our most skilful player but has zero end product. Quaner is nowhere near Premier League standard. Kachunga before his injury had also proven he wasn't Premier League quality. We play a system that depends on wingers who can cross a ball despite possessing not one player who can do it. The last two games both Swansea and Palace defended pretty narrowly, allowing us to get down the flanks because they were confident they could defend against anything we could put at them from out wide. Poor crosses aimed at one man with 5 defenders around him...
