Well Buxton win as many as they lose ............ and they are only a division down from where we will probably be next season.

Our two most experienced players were Ricky German and Charlie Wakefield.

Our team kept a clean sheet, indeed for much of the game our goal remained unthreatened. Buxton put out a proper team including our former player Jack Broadhead and Diego's brother Nico and yet our young attack caused them problems

Charlie Wakefield was captain and obviously had a stormer. Our only downside, I can hardly bring myself to see as a negative, despite the fact I advocate good behaviour on the pitch. Young Levi Amantchi got sent off, but he got sent off after getting elbowed by Nico de Girolamo. I reckon Nico must be 25. He's a man who has been playing at the back at this level for quite a while. I somehow doubt Cosi produced a wimp, but despite the seven year age gap Levi had his go back and got sent off. I only stop short of saying well done, because he has to learn to stand up for himself intelligently and not to his team's disadvantage. But he's not short of guts! Let's look after him.

Looking to next season surely the promise is rich. Surely Parkin is worth another season, young Willock must be pressing for the first team, Sharman is calm and apparently does not get overawed playing against men, Ofoegbu always seems to get himself noticed, Brownell is progressing, Wakefield needs a reward now, like a return to the bench against Swindon, and German and Amantchi should be thinking they only need to climb one step up to be Conference players next season. And I forgot Hand, who Premiership clubs have taken a look at this season ............

They won't all be first team regulars next season of course, but hey they must be putting themselves on Jack's radar.

They will be 2 divisions below us if we are in the National League next season. If the worst happens we would be below them. Matlock which is normally a pre-season friendly could soon well be a league game.

Its a bit frustrating when we see the youth team doing well and the first team doing so poorly . I'm thinking irrational thoughts like bring Llera on to the first team coaching staff and why isn't Jack bringing in the likes of Wakefield and others ,they cant do any worse than some of the current squad .
Anybody know why Rawson wasnt playing last night ?

Why not just play the youth team on Sat. They couldn't do any worse than the first team squad and might even show them a thing or to about commitment. It would certainly shake things up.

I see on Sat there's a protest organised outside the ground at 2.50 and then they will come in to the ground 10 mins after ko.
So this is a protest against DA who doesn't attend games and AC who will be sat in his seat on the other side of the stand at 3-00pm following a nice lunch?

Now I'm sure I don't have to point out the obvious but please, whats the bloody point of that? If you are going to protest then why not organise chants of "Carson is a wanker" (allegedly of course Matt) in the stadium after ko. I Am sure a few mins of that and he will either leave or feel a right dick - job done.

Who they going to protest against? Because AC apparently has gone away for 2 weeks according to Graham Smyth at the Derbyshire Times.

If your going to protest and make a point wouldn't it be better to stay away. There were chants at Carlisle which Peak FM made reference to. AC went to the Carlisle match last Saturday and got confronted by fans at the train station and a fan on Bob's Board said he spoke to him and apparently he said that he wasn't going anywhere.

I was told there are only two kinds of men : wankers and liars. Mr Carson might have got the double up!

Yes Matt, I suppose it is two divisions, I meant and should've said there is only a division between them and the Conference (One North or South). That's a smaller step than between the Premiership and Division Two and U-21 Premier sides in the Checkatrade, even when benefitting from over-age players, mostly struggle against weakened versions of Division Two outfits. Our oldest player was 19 wasn't he, bridging the gap at Buxton? It has to show they aren't that far off the level we need them to reach.

Though I said I'd never go back to Bob's I did sneak a look to see what they were saying about this win and only one poster seemed to have got that it is a real achievement. I think they dismiss Buxton as rubbish, but they have to be a decent team. I played against players of that standard and they were bloody good footballers, maybe not top pro's and maybe they all lacked an odd little something, but they all had several aspects of their game which were very strong and they'd all learnt not to be muscled out of a game. Maybe Bob's need to try playing against Buxton to see how good you have to be even to live at that level.

I'm well impressed with the result.

Oh and two points about the demo' - I'm sure in an age of mobile phones Mr Carson will see it and hear about it, wherever he chooses to be in the world. (You can't just wait till you think he'll be there, cos he'll permanently disappoint you.) And stay away campaigns work perfectly IN THEORY. In practice, fans love their club and some still turn up. How long have some Blackpool fans been not-a-penny-moreing? It is the only legal action taken against the Oystons that is illuminating the end of that particular tunnel.

Somebody/ies bear/s responsibility for the disappearance of Chesterfield down the drain. And it isn't the fans. I'd support all and almost any kinds of protest, before, during and after. If the Animal Liberation Front were giving tactical advice they'd be re-locating the protest to Apperknowle ..........

Oh and I don't think we could play all the youth team on Saturday, because they'd lose fairly easily and probably disappoint themselves. I'd be happy to see two of them on the bench for Saturday, but it won't happen unless even more first-teamers injure themselves before ko. We'll win on Saturday anyway.

Buxton are a very good team and the club has a lot of potential. They have been a bit disappointing this season in the league and are currently looking for a new manager. Be interesting to see what will happen when they get there 3G/4G pitch.

Also talking of artificial pitches, if Sutton United got promoted through the playoffs they would have to rip up there pitch and relay grass, now this could cost a lot of money for Sutton and if they can't afford to do it then would we stay in the league or would the runner-up in the playoff final go up? It's probably clutching at straws

Paul Doswell, Sutton's manager, paid for the pitch! He's hoping to convince the League to relax their rules and allow them in. He may also have the money to re-lay to grass. Clutching at grass not straws, I asked this question before, and people seemed to think the solution would be that it would be good news for the third best Vanarama club. The play-off final loser would get to go up. BUT that might mean the two promoted sides could have finished 5th and 7th in the league, which would almost bring the system into disrepute if two long-established league sides like Chesterfield and Crewe went down.

Wrexham and Tranmere are the only promotion contenders for whom success won't prove a problem. Macclesfield are really struggling financially, Aldershot aren't well off and the other contenders have never been in the league and don't attract good crowds. Fylde's financial backing would see them through, but promotion now would be about four years earlier than they had envisaged.

Just found this. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43161444

Artificial pitches

Under current guidelines synthetic or artificial pitches are not permitted in the EFL and discussions on whether to change this will take place at their Annual General Meeting in June.

In December 2017, three National League clubs with artificial pitches spoke to BBC Sport about the ramifications of earning promotion. The current rules mean that should they decide not to change to a grass pitch they would be relegated to National League North or South rather than get promoted.

The EFL said in Thursday's statement: "Any National League club with aspirations to play in the EFL in 2018-19 was required to submit an application by 31 December 2017, confirming that in the event of achieving promotion, they would agree to comply with the qualification criteria, which includes the requirement for a grass playing surface. All National League clubs that have made an application have agreed to meet this criteria.

"Should any National League club be promoted to the EFL but fail to meet the criteria by the nominated date, it will result in the 23rd club in League Two retaining its status."

Bobs Board hardly acknowledged the Youth teams achievement which says it all really.
They aren't interested in anything positive nowadays such is the hatred of the regime and would sooner try and win brownie points off each other by trying some new way to slag them off .
I am in no way defending AC and DA because it has been a disastrous few years of one bad decision after another and I hope they are gone by the summer but I am not so churlish as to ignore any good things that come out of the club .
