Awful first half but very good second half. We deserved to at least draw and take it to a replay.
That second half might just keep Alan Pardew in the job for another week but it also might not if Lai or Jenkins want him gone regardless.
Next week is the start of the defining period for this season. Must win against Huddersfield.

Have to agree on the tactics 70 mins in, losing, and still playing with a back 5 then 2 minutes to go brings on a striking threat. Add to that we lose to a team in the bottom three who have only won 4 away all season and two of them were against us, no way back now. On other thread we are talking about which players will stay it should be which players do we want to keep.

I agree, Trousers. When you have that number of shots and score once, that's not unlucky, it's crap finishing. And when you're bottom of the table and 7 points off safety, you're not unlucky, you're crap. Great opportunity today to turn this last week's shambles into a positive finish, though why I would think that would have been remotely possible, I can't answer. I fully agree with the decision to sack Pulis but appointing another failing manager in Pardew was a clear mistake. I don't see the point of sacking him now, just to replace him with another dud. We're going to be relegated, so get rid in the close season and use the last few weeks to line up a young, ambitious manager who does not have a track record of failure and sees the need to carry out a root and branch review of the squad.

I would like Marco Silva to come in before the end of the season just to asses all the shite,
No pressure to stay up because we won't,
Let him get a feel for the club and hopefully he can be part of the rebuild
I would also like to add ........
Barry was the worst player on the pitch and couldn't give a flying f*ck. I hope he never plays for us again. I've transitioned from general apathy to anger with the events of the last week.

Beefy, to be fair you have no chance of getting Silva in before the end of the season!! He is going too wait to see what other PL jobs come up in the summer, such as Everton!! You are stuck with Pardew or with a Megson type caretaker until the end of the season.

At this point I would want to see us start playing youths and fringe players over the normal starters who are out of form and/or are no longer bothered.
Play Gabr over Evans
Field over Barry
Burke over Phillips
Etc...
We've nothing to lose, may as well play players who at least want to prove themselves.

No chance of Marco Silva coming to the club. He's too ambitious to come to a club 7 points adrift of safety and devoid of confidence. He'll be waiting until the summer for a Premier League job.
All we can do is bring in someone until the end of the season like Megson or Redknapp, look down to the Championship or abroad for someone with ambition to manage in the Premier League but who is also prepared to work in the Championship next season if they can't save us (I have no faith in the management finding someone good in that mould) or put Big Dave or James Shan in temporary charge to the end of the season.
