Jeff Astle scores at the Shed End, Stamford Bridge, 1st March 1969

After a fresh body-blow to our survival hopes last weekend, Albion venture to the unforgiving surroundings of Stamford Bridge on Monday night desperately needing something to buoy our hopes. Chelsea are in the worst possible form right now, but that's a fact that could well work against us as they look to bounce back from the crushing defeat against Watford.

Injuries are crippling us pretty literally, but with Sturridge on board, there remains a chance he could pop up to haunt his former employers. That is, at least, something for us to cling on to in what could otherwise prove a repeat of the Man City disaster.

Ska'd, have you got a spare one ...... one that I can clutch at ........ a bendy one ....... straw that is ...

Another great picture, and a write up to give us ........ well not sure what it gives us but please lady luck come on board.

Can't afford to treat this as a write off and prepare for the more winnable ones on paper, we've done that throughout the season and look where we are.

If they're fit then they should be in and busting a gut to get something out of the game, where's the point in resting players, rolling over, going for a 0-0 with our backs to the wall.

If we get beat we get beat but at least lets have a go and give them something to think about, look what Bournemouth and Watford did with a bit of adventure.

I know, every week I get this renewed optimism and hope, I really should know better Doh

I expect the team to be:

Foster
Dawson - Evans - Hegazi - Gibbs
Phillips - Krycho - Barry - Brunt
Rodriguez
Rondon

Subs - Myhill, McAuley, Nyom, Yacob, Burke, McLean, Sturridge

4-4-1-1 out of possession (which will probably be a big chunk of the match) and 4-4-2 in possession.

It will be a tough match especially if the Chelsea players want to give a big reaction to the previous matches but we could catch them off guard.

I won't predict the score because I'm shit at it.

He has to pick him, its a sign of support for the player irrespective of innocence or guilt. If Pardew doesn't pick him then it would imo add to the pressure already on Jay and to some send out an admission of his guilt.

Get him back on the horse asap, if its not working out pull him off but it should be business as usual at this stage.

Yeah I agree with you fully Thumb up
It's just that JRods comments yesterday especially him being "devastated" at the allegations would that deem him to be in the "right" frame of mind ?

Getting back onto the field and doing what he is good at and the thing he loves would still imo be the best help to him. This allegation will get sorted in time, he needs to make some headlines for the right reasons.

This game is pretty similar to the recent one at Anfield where we had, literally, no hope.
Hmmmmm .........
...I really do fancy us here, especially with The Pole back.
2-0 to us

After wasting a good chance of three points last weekend, and other teams at the bottom pulling great results out of the hat - take a bow, Watford and Swansea - I’m resigned to relegation now. It’s damage limitation now for our squad. We have to keep as many of these players as possible for next season, nothwithstanding some of them have to take some of the blame for our results this season. We’re scoring more goals, and I’m really pleased that Chris Brunt is a first pick again. But our defence is a shambles and needs to be sorted out.
