Gary Caldwell has applied for the vacant Scotland job.

If he gets it the position will remain vacant.

Read this last week, nearly fell off my chair then thought about it more and thought why not? GC cant possibly do the same for Scottish Football as he did for us as its already in the state he left us in. It would mean a result for England every time we played them so overall it would be a good appointment.

Tell you what though, if he got the gig it really would say a lot about the state of Scottish Football.

He must have a very high opinion of himself and has extreme confidence which came across in his interviews, but If you look at his CV it would show one League 1 championship and two relegations which he could argue mitigating circumstances all he wants but his time here was so disastrous no one in their right mind could possibly set him on at a higher level .He would be better off getting an assistant job somewhere and learning the trade a bit more then perhaps get back on the ladder in future ,he's still extremely young as a manager .

Psychopaths and sociopaths tend to shine in interviews.

Because their confidence is unshakeable.

You couldn't make it up.

I wonder how you fit his record onto your CV and turn it into a positive.

I think he may be just behind Jon Venables in the running for the job.

He is one of that group of managers that has a promotion on his resume and there are chairman up and down the country who will be completely swayed by that one season on his resume!!! Virtually all managers fail eventually, so I think a lot of chairman are prepared to turn a blind eye to these failures and completely focus on the successes.

1 promotion and 2 relegations. It's not exactly great is it? He did well at Wigan because a lot of those players in L1 were Championship players plus he had a good budget.
