SATURDAY 30TH DECEMBER 3:00PM KICK OFF

LAST MATCH

So our first match without Carlos and we get our attacking zest back, 3 goals, 3 points and a clean sheet thanks to Wildsmith. Bullen tweaked the formation into a 433/diamond hybrid with Joao, Rhodes & Hooper all starting and it paid dividends with Rhodes & Joao getting on the score sheet. Reach added another with a cracking finish. We totalled 19 attempts on goal and 8 on target, I think we can safely say that wouldn't have happened if Carlos was still in charge. Of course it is only 1 game but it was like a breathe of fresh air compared to how most of the season had gone.

THE MATCH

Another away trip beckons and I would expect a much tougher test as we travel down south to take on Brentford. Brentford had a slow start to the season but have been improving in the last couple of months and now sit in 12th place looking to mount a playoff push. We beat them at Hillsborough earlier in the season and would take that again although a draw would be a good result especially with Burton coming up at Hillsborough on New Years Day.

THE TEAM

Hooper and Van Aken were injured at Forest so they might miss out. Venancio could replace Van Aken, while Abdi, Jones or Butterfield could replace Hooper. Will Bullen stick to same formation v Forest or tweak it again?

Cheers, Kev

Hard to say if the players were just reacting to Carlos' sacking or they really felt like playing.
We have a decent record against Brentford so hopefully Joao will bang some in.

Bullen has to shape up his central defence pudil is better suited to this than Venancio who needs more game time Thumb up i hope we here news off hunt aswell becuase if palmer plays we start with 10 men Doh play like we did the first half hour against forest and we will be 3-1 down Sad we were lucky and wildsmith saved our bacon Thumb up

Shape that defence up quick sharp but we only have sticky tape and paper to do so Doh we have to go out and buy a new defence im afriad as Lees who is injured is the only one good enough Doh and hes been shite Doh selling westwood will help us patch it up a little bit but its that bad at the moment that we are going to need to spend more than 3 million he might bring us Doh

To add to that id like to see penney on the bench and given game time in the pre season he was pretty solid especially in the air he seems like and old fashioned center back big strong and good at set pieces a bit like loovens 5 seasons ago Whistle

Having watched the highlights the last game could have been another draw on a different day.
Wildsmith had a blinder and we've had much clearer penalty claims denied across the season do far but have to say that Joao's goal was brilliant and reminiscent of counter attacks in CC's first season.

However, with a potential new manager on the way the players now need to show they're interested and committed and short -term Bully won't stand for any 'dummy spitting'.
I'm going to maintain some optimism

1-3 Joao
