The team are showing strong signs of recovery,, austerity is past, our points will start showing signs of inflation and my interest may rise, been hard under TP and living away but now I am in the Midlands hoping to be more regular.

To be fair performances are improving, the Pulis indoctrination will take time to train out but it is showing signs, the green shoots of spring are appearing ...... here's to safety and the BCD next year.

 Thought McClean was fouled by the ex seal and we should have had a penalty but Man Ure are a BIG club and rarely get penalties awarded against them.

If that foul had been against a ManU forward in front of their fans it would have been a definite penalty.

Seriously, if you're going to lose against a top-two club, much as it galls me, 1-2 isn't bad and if we can replicate that second half performance AND score a few goals, we'll be ok.

Even though we lost, I think today was a step in the right direction. We were fine defensively and going forward was an improvement and much better than Tony Pulis' mierda. We are still lacking quality in the final third but I hope that will improve when Phillips, Morrison and Chadli are back from injury and Burke is up to scratch fitness wise.

Three big matches coming up before the year is over. A minimum of 4 points is required from that to set a base to build upon in the new year.

Today, although no points, could be the turning point.

Alan Pardew has seen the players perform and hAs release them to attack more. But they are just not used to it. I Know Rondon is a work horse and deserves respect. I have always said you can’t score if you don’t have the service but I still feel he is not the striker we need and this is the critical Purchase in the window.

Also, lots of anti Pardew comments on Twitter. I just don’t get it. I think in a few months we will all be very happy with the team he turns out. He at least needs respect and some time.

Decent effort against Utd. I don’t accept any correlation between this performance and anything the new manager may have said or done with the players. I’m not anti-Pardew
(or Pulis) or anybody else for that matter; I simply do not think any of them have any
real effect on a group of hardened, professional players with years of listening to sleep
inducing lectures about what they should or should not do in milliseconds available to
them during a real game. The players themselves know what to do; all they need from
a manager is minimal audible/visual annoyance from the laughably named “technical
area”.

Even though the Pardew era hasn't gotten off to the best of starts, I think we will fine in the long term. The new manager bounce that is always expected doesn't always actually happen but after 4 or 5 matches results start to turn around.

This season has epitomised that so far. Leicester with Claude Puel and Everton with Sam Allardyce have seen quick results whereas Crystal Palace with Roy Hodgson and West Ham with David Moyes had bad starts but have now started to gel good teams together and the results have picked up.

I think once Alan Pardew has found the right formula, with the help of the January transfer window, the results and performances will pick up and become consistent resulting in not only Premier League safety but also a mid table finish.
