Ten out of Ten for Jacob

It may only be the Evo-Stick South but Jacob Hazel scored for the tenth game in succession for Frickley yesterday. At any level that takes a bit of doing. Brilliant performance!

At Lancaster yesterday Matlock's winning goal came from "the lively Ricky German". Note "lively", not fat, chunky, or powerful. Lively is exactly what we want. The winning goal is good too!

Other non-league performances I noted were Harrison payed the full game for Barrow in their win at Halifax for whom Matty Brown was centre back - a game in which the home fans were booing manager Billy Heath, Craig Clay got a full game during yet another disappointing Orient defeat under new manager Justin Edinburgh and Boden played the full game in a win that keeps Wrexham in prime position to return to the league (especially as Sutton would have to dig up a very expensive pitch to come into the league.)

If there's dissatisfaction at Halifax it's worth noting. They have a couple of good players who might be worth a January look - better than Jordan Sinnott I think.

Noteworthy too that Sheffield FC, who were already struggling, seem to be missing Brownell. They lost out at home to fellow strugglers Gresley.

What happens if Sutton Utd win the Vanarama I'm not sure. If they refuse to dig up their pitch does the second place team take their place and 3rd to 6th play off for promotion OR should only one team be promoted and just one relegated?

Quick addition, Buxton have signed Jack Broadhead on loan from Boston.

Maidstone have a 3G pitch as well but there a few points outside the playoffs. If Sutton won the Vanarama and didn't alter there pitch then I think the 2nd placed team would go up as Champions and the 8th place team would go into the playoffs as there are 6 teams in the playoffs in the Vanarama Conference and Vanarama North and South leagues this season.

In the past there have been teams which have won the Conference but didn't get promoted because there ground wasn't good enough for the football league.

Leave Ricky at Matlock for the foreseeable future is what I think.Let him get some game time and goals and come back a better player ready to step up to the first team .
How old is Hazel ?

Hazel is young enough to get a pro' career. 24 I think without looking him up.

As for Ricky I think you should be tested at the highest level at which you should be capable. I think that is the Vanarama. I'll be pleased if he does well at Matlock ....... but surely we know he's easily capable of that? He got a Man of the Match at Alfreton which is a higher level. All we're likely to create leaving him at Matlock is a flat-track bully in my opinion ....... but I'm often wrong.

Matt, I have a feeling if Sutton Utd refuse to dig up their pitch and thus refuse promotion I think they automatically get relegated from the Vanarama ........... This sounds illogical but I think it may be true.

Just checked Jacob - he'll be 24 in April. We loaned him out six times. Three games no goals at Matlock, 4 goals in 8 games for Workington, but in 13 games for Sprint-Jeloy which was the Norwegian third division loan Chris Turner organised he scored 17 goals in 13 games ........... so maybe he gave a clue to his current success. Wikipedia lists his height rather desperately at five foot eleven and a half ............. But we seem to have created a player who may just be a genuine goalscorer. Will anyone try to take a chance on him? (We gave him one game and a few minutes as sub'; remind you of any current players?)
