Baggiesteve, forgotten about Sunderland, but to be fair I think we have a better squad than they had and I don't recall them having a really good season in the prem for a number of years ......... we're more of an Everton type club without the benefit of being ever present and having that financial clout .... he could be what we need .......

Alternatively ..... Would anyone accept Sir Gary going solo until May ......

The thing is Pulis has better players now
But they can't adapt to the system you know the drop deep system that Pulis likes,
Did he forget the great second half against city ?
Yes we may concede when playing this way but the opportunities we create would give us more chance of winning,
Lets face it our goals against column isn't looking brilliant anyway playing the way he is,
3 away at Brighton, 2 at home to Watford well it isn't working anyway,
And how TP can complain about time wasting I'll never no,
Foster was warned three times in the second half about this,
Fair play to Watford and the way they play, I wonder who that's down too ?
Oh for a manager like Silva huh Huh

I agree 4Eva about our squad being better than Sunderland's though I also got the impression that his teams at Everton were a bit attritional. I have also to be honest and say that, as much as I think this club owes Gary Megson, I found his football equally uninspiring (remember all those 1-0 wins, although at least they were wins ?). I think with Megson the destination was unbelievable but the ride was uninspiring.

Maybe I'm just hard to satisfy. ?

For me, the question of supporting Pulis (or not) is centered not so much on him as an individual but on what a "supporter" is. Some are stern and obdurate. They determine to follow the manager/players as if directed to do so by some quasi-religious dictat and treat any slight criticism as heresy. Some are petrified of holding different opinions to their fellow supporters. They support like fish in a shoal; twisting all over the place merely to stay part of the crowd. Having an original thought stupifies them. Some fans spend most of the time wondering why they are fans; they are transfixed by their own addiction; unable to chew properly. Some are analytical and quote mountains of statistics. They typically know the obscure facts but fail to see that any human endeavour reduced to digits does not contain the whole truth. Others realise that the game is no longer the game they once loved. These are the supporters who watch the game and accept it for what it is - not life and death - just a billion pound diversion. Thats me; I dont care who the manager is, he isnt allowed on the pitch and could be replaced by a bingo machine to pick the team.

Meandbren, I think I fall into all of those categories, my hatred of the FA, the premier league and what English football has become makes it difficult to get overly emotional one way or the other, my sense of fair play says he kept us up without the support of decent transfer windows give him time with decent players, the fan in me says I want success and entertainment the like of which is not being and is unlikely to be delivered whilst trying not to lose, the 1 - 0 wins under SGM were not always the best but they were wins and we had success ....... I could go on ..... fans are never totally satisfied and eventually every fan that predicts a manager to fail will get it right unless your man ure with SAF even arsenal fans that slagged off AW could be right with him failing eventually. Patience seems to be what's needed generally but with fans turning away from boring football how long can you wait.

Tony Pulis is in the same position as Roy Hodgson was in February 2012. His way is not working and with these better players, more is expected from him. Therefore he has to either adapt and change or stick and sink. Hodgson adapted and changed which made us better, I hope Pulis does the same. (It is doubtful though)

To be fair to TP he does deserve a bit more time with this squad. He earned it with last season's 10th place finish. It has been 3 league games and 1 cup game since the transfer window closed and the next 3 games against Leicester, Southampton and Manchester City takes us to the end of October. 2 months, 6 league games and a cup game is enough time for change to occur. If the results, style of play and performances haven't changed by then and we are further down the table then he should definitely go.

Now I'm not knocking those fans who can't get up to the games but as I do and have 3 season tickets as my son and daughter go with me I am probably over emotional too. It takes me a good while to get there and home and although I hate the obscene money in football today and dislike the stuffed shirts FA that isn't what upsets me.

What upsets me is what Pulis is doing to my club. I used to get excited about going up but he has stopped all that. His negative football , his BS about honest 'Ard working' players and blaming the referee (especially yesterday). Anti football , his stubbornness, not knowing how to use attacking players.

The only team that plays football at The Hawthorns is the opposition. The fans are staying away, it's terrible to watch and I hate to say it but it's a good job City knocked us out of the cup because Wolves would embarrass us in a one off cup game.

There are other managers out there who could keep us up and Pulis needs to GO ASAP

I'll give you my take if I may? I will spare you the "Don't forget how lucky you are , we would love a chance at a relegation scrap in the Prem after being out of it for nearly 17 years!!" - actually no I won't spare you from that, I won't chastise you like I would Arsenal fans for complaining but you might want to be careful what you wish for!!

I see West Brom as an established PL team in a league where any of the bottom 13 teams could go down in any given season!! Its a league of "pass the baton, its now your turn to go down" but even with the stupid relegation reward money that teams are given there is no divine right for established prem teams to come straight back up. Pulis is about as solid as it gets in terms of you keeping your PL status, remove him and you may just remove that status for a long time!!

On the other hand, you are an established PL team and while I doubt any of you are expecting to challenge the top 6, I can understand the desire to see the team move forward in terms of attacking play and good performances. I expect most of the teams like yours shutting up shop when playing the top 6 and almost trying to keep the score respectable, but when you play the rest a bit of ambition and attacking flair is needed while keeping the Pulis defense intact. So while the performances are dire with little really attacking endeavor and closed shop defending when you do go ahead I can understand that it simply becomes boring to watch, hence the fall in attendances and mood of the fans, particualrly at home!!

So maybe it comes down to your aspirations for WBA, do you treasure that PL place enough to not risk it but have to watch defensive, tight and often boring football or can you accept that once in a while you will either be in the thick of a relegation scrap and even go down, with no guarantee of a quick return and the financial dangers that brings with it??? Cuddly Uncle Tony will keep you up, are you prepared to suffer the consequences of the next man does not?? Of course an inspired new manager choice could send you the other way, but its probably a dead cert that this won't last and eventually you will go down playing cavalier football and searching again for a manager to get you out of the Championship instead.

Worldclass, I love your honesty and your sentiment, but unfortunately the obscene money and stuffed shirts of the FA are the cause of TP and most of the prem. Their bias towards their elite and the can't lose out on the honey pot breeds a don't lose at any cost mentality ...... TP is defensive but which came first ..... his attitude or don't lose at any cost chairmen intent on staying in the greed league ......

TP could be more expansive but would it cost him his job ...... fans bring in so little revenue their becoming expendable ... until the power of the top six is curbed things will continue to get worse.

St Charles it's great to hear from a Neutral point of view,
And I agree with 99% of what you say,
In fact after WBA beat Wolves 5-1 RH said BEFORE Mick McCarthy was sacked be careful what you wish for.
He was sacked the day after and Wolves went into freefall straight into Division 2,
Everything you say makes sense,
But I can only get to 4 or 5 games a season and it's not cheap but i only saw one decent half of football last season
the second half v Swansea, what happened to the other 9 Huh
Like worldclass said he has three season tickets to pay for and somewhere this has to stop,
Like you say it could go tits up and years ago it would have done,
But as i have been sticking up for TP for the last two years he has now better players who are being strangulated,
The only reason I would go for change now is that we have a little more investment and better players to survive,
I don't think our League position would change a lot but I think with a good manager we would have more fun along the way and stay up,
The big question of course when the time comes to giving the TP the boot could we then trust the board to choose the right successor ?
That is my MAJOR concern Confused
