It was his home debut today. His full debut was a couple of weeks ago, Spurs away, scored in that one too Big Grin .

It could be the case that he's developed into a Premier League striker, time will tell.

I don't blame the club for letting him go though because he looked very mediocre for us and in the majority of his numerous loans with us. After leaving, he didn't look great at Leicester either or subsequent loan moves.

The problem with the Premier League is that there probably are players who can develop into 1st team players over time, but don't get the opportunity due to the money at stake for staying in the league. In Wood's case, he barely scored for us at Championship level so clearly wasn't ready for Prem football at the time and there's never any position in this league to ease players in gradually.

It wasn't until 16-17 that he showed genuine goalscoring prowess in the Championship. Had we not sold him, this would've meant that we were loaning him out for 7 years - which is probably too long for any club to gamble if someone is going to make it or not. If you think of the salary we would've spent, it would amount to millions on a gamble that for most of his career, wouldn't look like it would pay off.

I guess if he does well, there will be an element of kicking ourselves though. But we need to remember that it was 09-10 when he played for us regularly and he couldn't hit a barn door. Physically he looks a lot different now - having lost the puppy fat - but back with us, he never looked like a goalscorer.

That twat of a Chairman at Palace, Parish! He's more bothered about defending himself (for recruiting de Boer). Can't he see that the team had 25 efforts against Burnley and were very unlucky not to score, although I could have put away that late header chance that surely would have kept de Boer in a job for another week.
What a poser as well - Parish just loves the limelight. If I was a Palace fan I'd give him merciless stick. And if I was Woy, I'd turn the job down.
