The highly-rated 20-year-old is understood to have travelled to the Baggies training ground for a medical ahead of a proposed switch from the Bundesliga.

At this stage it is unclear whether the deal will be a permanent transfer or a loan deal.

Burke, a Scotland international, joined Leipzig from Nottingham Forest for £13million last summer but made only five league starts.

I'm guessing Burke would be a loan deal, but we'll see.

Could be a good acquisition if it comes off. He's big, pace and direct with plenty of potential and lots to prove. If it is a loan deal, which I suspect, there's no risk - except he'd probably go elsewhere next year if he does impress.

Played a fair bit for a very good Leipzig side last year who finished 2nd in the Bundesliga, so shows he's no mug. And let's remember, this Leipzig side run Bayern close for most of the season.

If it comes off, I assume it will enable Leko to go out on loan and learn the trade, as Pulis has been alluding to.

I lived in Leipzig for several years so take an interest in the game there. RB Leipzig are a brand new club with money  to burn. They are designated as Rasen Ballsport Leipzig and play down the connection with Red Bull. Obviously they have pots of money and Forest could not believe their luck when a bid came in for £13m last year.
He played 17 games last season, mostly from the bench and scored once. If he had been a success they would certainly not be looking to flog him or loan him out in the second year of a five year contract.
Slick is right, if he is worth a punt then take him on loan with a possible option to buy. I am not saying he won't make it but Leipzig overpaid last year, let's not pay for their mistake.

Oliver Burke added - I am back!

Took holiday in Tuscany and got a call in the street to tell me I have been made redundant (bastards) - A bit distracted in lawyers and job searching but plenty time to catch up on this thread and enjoy the lunacy of the final transfer day!

Good luck stairs....however, the left foot question needs more detail......you're more than likely the right age; if you're also 6'3"+ then you're sorted
