I hope so Overseas Baggie. Where did you hear that?

A contact who is very close to Spurs and to two leading agents.  His info is usually very reliable.   Wimmer going apparently smooths the way for them to sign Sanchez

Would far rather spend c£15m on Wimmer than £25m on Gibson.  Saints wanted Wimmer to replace VVD but he's not going anywhere apparently.

Beefy, don't understand your post  Huh
Whats it all about?

Confused BaggieMan !

That's who my New ITK is , Dont like posting incase things go wrong
But he called Barry the day before and I posted it and he was right if you look back at my posts the day before Barry arrived, now he reckons Wimmer is due for talks
The above BM was a quote from him posting on.com this morning that's why it sounds a bit daft I suppose
Basically he has heard form a ITK that Spurs are allowing us to talk to him allowing them to move for a CB at Ajax called Sanchez,
Now It seems he was right with Barry and in the last few moments guess what ?

Tony Pulis, the West Brom head coach, has moved for Wimmer this week and is hopeful of signing the Austrian international in the next few days. !!!

It seems to me that all this transfer business is rather akin to buying a house with a long chain of buyers and sellers.

Reading the Telegraph article they say of selling Wimmer "His departure suggests that Spurs could be making progress in their attempts to sign Davinson Sanchez from Ajax"

Simply put, other clubs have to either sell or obtain a replacement before the business can be completed and that goes down the chain line. My guess is that in many cases there is this 'chain' that is longer than we imagine. Perhaps this doesn't apply to the mega-rich clubs with huge squads but does so with clubs similar in size to our own.

Any road up, it seems our people are working and hopefully we will have secured the quality and quantity we want and need within the next 14 days when the window is slammed shut.

Whistle

Portuguese attacking midfielder. Doesn't seem like a Tony Pulis player or signing.

And how about Chadli (aged 28) out £25 mil and Damari Gray (aged 21) Leicester release clause 12 mil in.

It's only conjecture ..... but would be two centre backs in one out and a midfielder/winger out one in. Gives us three players for two out and a 13 mil profit.

I'd go along with that, Damari Gray, I have been saying we should sign since he was at Birmingham.

Slight problem with this kid though, he could only be a loan, as he has a €45m release clause in his contract, no way are we paying a 45 million Euro for a teenager.

We would be a great transfer for Wimmer ...... he could have a longer summer holiday ..... We always have a training camp in Austria .... he could sleep at home.

Much as I'd hate to see Evans go, especially as he's been a standout performer for us since he's been here and has added a real touch of class. Sadly the downside of that is that it attracts the attention of "the bigger clubs"

Having said that, 4eva's "conjecture" is really tempting, 2 younger, good defenders for Evans and Demari Gray and some money for Chadli who after looking different class when he first came faded and has looked anything but class in his last 20 or so games. Gray would be an upgrade and like you Salop, a player I've liked since he was at Blues.

But and it's a big but those are the ones I'd like to replace Evans & Chadli with. What I wouldn't want is Evans to go and we bring in someone like say Ranocchia, no disrespect but your replacing the best player in your team with a decent squad player. Similarly if Chadli went and we ended up with say Musa from Leicester I'd be disappointed with the alternative.

Every player, no matter who has a price that you'd be daft not to accept them, but it is all about what you do with the money and who you replace them with that either makes you groan or think we may have done alright even though we've lost Evans and Chadli.

With that possible 13 million left over, I'd spend half of it or a bit more on Shane Long, I still think he has unfinished business with the Baggies and he's a fairway down the pecking order at Southampton.

Thing is we won't get Demarie Gray for 12 million
Not sure where the 12 Million release clause came from
Bournemouth had a 20 million bid turned down a couple of weeks ago ?

I'd be really sorry to Evans leave but, for me, including Delph as part of the deal would soften the blow

Beefy I hear what your saying, I was on the news now site and it mentioned the value of the clause. If he has that amount set and he wanted to leave surely it would be a breach of his contract if Leicester refused to let him go for it ....

My initial post was only a guesstimate .... if VVD is worth 70 mil then surely evans would still be cheap at 35 mil. We could / should be able to sell him for 45 mil maybe 50. Chadli for 25+, Buy Gray, Wimmer and Chambers and still have healthy change ....... Only conjecture and not probable. Wishful thinking. Three young players with PL experience ...... a future to build on.

The release clause was taken from The Mirror ......... take that as you will
