According to the local press #WBA are willing to pay €12m to sign Iborra who struggled to get a regular starting spot under Jorge Sampaoli.

I read that....... It says WBA are backed by new Chinese INVESTORS. I have yet to see any investment. Wage bill is being trimmed but nothing is incoming. Remains until I see something I like.. I`m not holding my breath. DD

We were linked with Iborra a couple of years ago, so i recall.

Would be a good signing as he can do a good job anywhere in the middle of the park, just as effective holding as he is off the striker. Always chips in with his share of goals too.

Although could've got him for a lot less than the price being touted now if we had moved back in 2015...

Iborra would be the central midfield replacement for Fletcher in the centre of midfield. He is at his best playing with a more defensive minded midfielder (Mbia in 14/15, Krychowiak in 15/16 and N'Zonzi in 16/17 during the past three seasons at Sevilla) in a central two but can also play an attacking midfielder so provides options in our midfield.

He is also the captain of Sevilla so would be a coup for us if we were to sign him.

Two days into the transfer market and ................................

ALBION can confirm their first signing of the summer of 2017 with Jay Rodriguez joining the Club from Premier League rivals Southampton.

The 27-year-old forward has signed a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

Jay will meet his new team-mates tomorrow when the players report back for training as the Baggies begin shaping up for the Club's eighth consecutive Premier League campaign.

But after the handshakes and greetings it will be down to hard work immediately as he then jets off to Austria with the Baggies and the first phase of the pre-season schedule.

"After one or two 'near misses' I'm absolutely buzzing to be here," says Jay, referring to Albion's two previously thwarted attempts to recruit him from the St Mary's Stadium.

"The most important thing for any player is to be wanted – and Tony Pulis and Albion have made it clear just how much they have wanted me to join. That's fantastic for any footballer to hear.

"I'm genuinely delighted to be joining a club of Albion's stature. The team is full of top players and it's pretty clear that they are also a great set of lads."

Head Coach Tony Pulis tried to land Jay a year ago and again in the January window only for Saints to remain reluctant to do business.

Chairman John Williams commented: "I am delighted to welcome Jay to The Hawthorns. We tried to sign him during the previous two windows and it's third time 'deal done.' Our persistence has been rewarded.

"Jay is a proven Premier League striker, an England international and a player who will give Tony more attacking options."

Now our summer begins.

I really believe it's a massive gamble at £12m for Rodriguez. They've really mugged us off on the fee considering his injury record in the last 3 years.

Don't get me wrong, I liked him back in 2014 pre injury. But it's one hell of a fee for a player who has been on the treatment table for 80% of the last 3 years.

Just hope our staff and medical team really know what they are doing and he can stay fit.

Glad there's a done deal though as I was getting worried we were planning to just make up the numbers. The other links are very positive and just crossing everything that Rodriguez can put his injuries behind him.

I'm not sure where the £12m figure has originated from as the official PR out of the club is our often used line of "undisclosed fee". It's possibly something in the press but you have the question why they'd have the exact transfer fee since we've not disclosed it.

I reckon Rodriguez is as much as a gamble as Matty Phillips was; hopefully Jay enjoys a similar start to his Albion career and also minimal time on the treatment table. We've certainly got the sports science at the club now to help bring him back to 100% fitness of a few years ago.
