The % difference is much bigger in the UK and we do indeed hold the record for non turnout in that respect. I've preached mandatory voting for years because I'm sure that certain elected governments and a disruptive referendum result would not have happened if mandatory voting was stipulated and a minority group of people allowed to take power in this country - contrary to the wishes of a big proportion of the UK voting population!!!

The more reputable end of the polls suggesting a 50 plus tory majority.

That is still absolutely bizarre when one considers the unimpressive tenure of this Tory government, an insipid campaign by May herself who is not the strong leader that her election slogan is suggesting and the very lightweight/poor cabinet members that are now in place mainly because of Brexit - what a joke and just confirms how many voting English loonies there actually are who still unbelievably go near this political party in it's current state!!!!!! As a voting Scot, it's time to leave the UK, the sooner, the better and let English (and Welsh) voters deal with the resultant probs/mess that are undoubtedly gonna arise if the Tories are left 'to their own devices'!! I'm not a Labour supporter but I just hope Corbyn's decent election campaign shows up positively in the ballot box and gives May and her insidious cohorts a 'bloody nose' for ever calling an election!!

Very high turnout reported down south. Certainly my polling station was the busiest I've seen it.

Tories will be helped by UKIP vote however those canvassing have stated two words will stop vast amounts of Labour voters voting for their party and they are Jeremy Corbyn. From what I've read even Dennis Skinner is in danger of losing his seat. They have not fallen for the Corbyn malarky.
Mind you polls have been wrong before but evidence supports decent size Tory majority.

The evidence is in the polls and, as you say, recent opinion polls have lost all credibility in providing voters this great assured guidance of trends that have supposedly developed and then, surprise surprise, they've been proved wrong! I think you are better studying the bookies' odds on who will win each electoral seat and you'll have a good indicator of what is really going on. In Scotland the SNP is 'odds on' in over 45 seats with some of the others on 'short odds' as well! I hope the SNP win all 59 seats and send a huge 'two fingered' message to the unionists up here who infect Scottish politics as well as Westminster and it's government!!! I know it is highly unlikely but one can only wish that such huge solidarity and unity would envelop Scotland in the face of some of the most shameless political activities I've ever observed from 2014 onwards!!

BBC/ITV/Sky joint exit polls reveal a very interesting scenario of a Conservative party getting the most seats but falling short of a majority!!! Hung parliament would then be formed, if the Tories can find a party willing to go in with them. If not then there may be another election!!! Labor the big winners, up 34 seats with the SNP projected to be the biggest losers at -22 seats. These exit polls have been very accurate in past elections, lets see what it produces this time!!
