Remember the name, WC, but just can't place him - did he play at the back about 8-10 years ago? (I get some of those African players we had for a short spell mixed up).

Mr Igor Balis !!!!!

They should have given him the Freedom of the Town, Beef.
But Balis would score too many. Most obscure only. (And then a reminder about them).

Obscure anecdote.
Pre-season friendly. Mid-80s. Albion v Moscow Torpedo.
“Don’t think much of these 2” said the bloke behind me about Albion’s inept experimental front 2.
Ron Saunders agreed.
Bull and Burke.
Bully has already been mentioned, the other guy used to play for QPR ...anybody remember him?

Would it be this guy? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Burke_(footballer)

No mention of him ever actually playing for Albion; maybe just a brief trial before he went to Doncaster?

Yep, that's the one, too obscure even for wikipedia  Whistle
There was definitely a Bull-Burke partnership that day. Albion lost 2-0 I think...Steve Burke was probably playing as a trialist.

Reckon I've got the programme somewhere..

going really obscure here ....... I think we had some guy called Brown, think his full name was "the one the only great Tony bomber Brown" good job he's not still playing ..... that would never fit on his shirt.

I think his twin played as well .... Alistair Brown

Ray Barlow

Just coming to the end of his career when I first started supporting the Baggies.

Peter Barnes signed from Man City I think and part of Big Ron's magical football team.

Finally Davy Burnside and his famous juggling tricks.

My second game at the Shrine FA Cup 4th Round against Bolton.

Ball passed to Davy out wide on the right level with penalty area. Catches and holds the ball on his right instep. Big burly Bolton defender runs towards him intending to hammer Davy into Row Z.
Davy flicks the ball up and catches it on his left instep. Bolton defender now changing direction and legs well apart.
Davy nutmegs him, runs around the defender and lets fly from the corner of the area; beats Bolton's goalie all ends up.

Trouble was that kind of skill when it mattered was all to rare for Davy.

Good at entertaining the crowds tho  with his tricks pre match warm up. Smartass
