Wendies v Town Championship Play-offs 2nd Leg
#51
Absolutely knackered this morning, got back from the match about midnight and proceeded to crack open a few cold beers and a few not quite as cold as they should be beers and watched the whole thing all over again on TV

Didn't I tell you all we would beat Wednesday?

Found a fantastic stream for 80mins. Then it just went to a stationary list of different unconnected streams for other foreign matches. Found another, but couldn't get rid of advert in centre of the screen. Found myself craning left and right trying to see around it. That doesn't work! Eventually managed to clear the ad. God knows how, but I managed to do it, but couldn't get it to go full screen. So there I was squinting away when the penalty shootout began. I was thinking we don't score pens do we? How wrong. We took them like a bunch of Germans! Have to say when I saw the Heff stepping up, I was thinking here we go, he's gunna tw_t it one and hope for the best. How wrong. Beautifully placed bottom right. Appologies for my doubts. Going to celebrate with a lemon drizzle and a glass of red later. Happy days !!!  Big Grin   Thumb up

Good luck in the final guy's!!

No team should have to go out on penalties, but they are the rules!

A very even 2 legs, I just wish we had gone for a result at yours, even if we had come away with a narrow defeat!

Make sure you enjoy the day out! and for your sakes, I hope we don't play you next season!

First of all commiserations to the Owls fans on this forum. Class response from you boys.
Banter is all well and good, but the way you've reacted to that heartbreaking loss is class. Good luck next season.

What a team of legends we have.
The whole team were fantastic last night. Never give up attitude and a nerve of steel in the penalty shootout.
I thought we edged it over the 2 legs. The better team in possession, however we did look dodgy to the accurate long ball.
We have so much to thank Wagner for. I really did think we had blown our chances after resting players once we had qualified for the playoffs. Limped over the line it seemed.
But Wagner got the whole team going again. What a guy.
Best player last night for me was Mooy. Closely followed by Smith and Brown. The whole team were excellent except for Lowe. He had a shocking game and almost landed us in it more than once. Great penalty though!!!

So on to Wembley. It's that same dilemma for me....do I go, or stay here and not jinx the team.

Just shows it's a game of differing opinions. I thought Lowe was excellent last night. Looked comfortable on the ball both in attack and defence.
Colin Quaner though. He splits opinions more than any Town player I can remember. Proved last night what a good player he really is.

Ticket prices for the final are absolutely scandalous. They're pricing families out again. How much to take a mum and dad with two kids? You're looking at three or four hundred quid.
Greedy, robbing London bastards. Hope Jeremy can sort these corrupt bastards out when he's PM.
Greedy, greedy bastards!

Reading have been given the home kit. Seems ok to me. Love that fluorescent kit.

We never do it the easy way do we? I had a sickening feeling once i had said on here Steve Fletcher was garbage that it would come back to haunt me and lo and behold it almost did. After they scored I really did think that was it. They'd shut up shop, we'd huff and puff but fail and they'd pick us off and score a sucker punch 2nd late on. They almost did a few times but Hef was my MOTM. Absolutely outstanding. Made one goal saving block from FF and made a vital interception to stop them going clean through at one point. Collin shutting up the doubters with a marvellous performance and Wagner got every decision spot on including to bring him on. Kachunga was a passenger towards the second half and he was rightly brought off but he'll come again. VLP was out on his feet and rightly got replaced by THD. Thought he had a good game. Some great moves when he had 2-3 players around him and put in one of the best defensive shifts I've seen him do this season. Hoggy, well what more can you say. He is our Terry Butcher. Blood all over his head but he carries on and bosses the game. Danny Ward is my new hero in life. I really thought when Payne missed that pen that FF would score, we'd miss the next one and it would be curtains. Joy to be proved wrong. I cried, my Dad was bawling and I didn't get to sleep until 12, my adrenaline was coursing through me. Wembley, what a dream. It'll be a better game than this one as Reading won't sit back. 90 mins from the Premier league lads. It's a Heffing dream. UTT.

Also hats off to all the Sheff Wed fans on here. Credit to your club. Can't say the same for the ones on twitter bragging about booking Wembley hotels.

Very gracious of you all. Football has to find a fairer way for all football competitions when all that separates teams after 46 games and an extra 210 minutes is goal difference.

I get the comment on ticket prices but they've been the same for a while now. £156 would pay for 2 adult and 2 kid tickets in half decent areas - rip off compared to what it should be but at the same time not 'scandalous' these days IMO.

On the plus side, if we do (everything crossed) go up, £20 away tickets every weekend. Thumb up

As for the game, it was 'tight' in terms of the scoreline but one team deserved it far more than the other. For all their millions it was a bit embarrassing for Wednesday to go out the way they did, ultra negative in the first leg and they hardly 'went for it' in the second leg. We played the better football, we tried to win the tie, we got what we deserved. It was bloody horrible to go through though!

For all the stick we take about being 'tinpot' from fans of 'bigger' clubs as well, what the hell was the cringeworthy light up display about, and why do they pump noise in through the speakers to try and replicate an atmosphere? Doh
