According to GC our scouting system is very poor or virtually none existent since Paul Mitchell left .
What was the reason why Mitch left ? Because Wilson didnt want him,he felt he could cover it himself .Unbelieveable that this was allowed to happen .

My only comment would be - when was our system that good?

If Danny did that it was foolish ........ but if we needed to make cuts, and the return wasn't obvious from Mitchell ?????? Thing is Pooch I find it difficult to believe a vastly experienced manager, free to make any decision, says we don't need scouting, I'll do all that for the same money. It doesn't make sense.

The players we've sold on, who came up with them, Ariyibi, Doyle, Cooper, Morsy etc? Who came up with the young players who made the fringes of our team until GC arrived and abandoned them? I'm only asking, I don't know! At Leicester it was Steve Walsh building Ranieri's team .... What was Mitchell's actual role, or is that as secret as his departure?

I do certainly ask why from website and local paper reports even I can come up with names of cheap young players, wanting to make their way ......... who two years on are going to Championship clubs and higher, or scoring against Burnley ..... and "our" paid professional "scout/s" miss out?

Thing is these statements are becoming quite Trumpish from GC. First he says how much talent there is at the club, then he says there's no scouting. If both statements were true how then did the talent arrive? (I happen to think GC might just be beginning to wake up and realise what he took on.)

When you look at any aspect of Chesterfield's football club don't the words "worms" and "can" struggle to form a phrase?

I'm thinking Wilson had a choice between keeping Mitch or getting rid and bringing in that assistant from Sheffield United.

Sorry Pooch but you're turning a man known everywhere as a straight dealer and too honest for his own good into Machiavelli.

Morgan arrived 30 December 2015, Mitchell left 18 April 2016. Wasn't a swift cabinet re-shuffle was it? The four months of the long knives? Even Margaret Thatcher couldn't have kept that up.

If you'd said Morgan convinced Danny that Mitchell was no good I might believe that. But to suggest that Danny came up with some bizarre long-term plan to destroy Mitchell and take on the entire function himself (after only a thousand games experience in management, which surely told him it couldn't work) isn't credible.

I fear Mr Caldwell is creating smokescreens to hide his own current failure. If he's even bothered about scouting and player development how come after two weeks in his job he ditches our young players and replaces them with the untried future rejects of bigger clubs ......... ? Is he the brunette Donald Trump I ask myself.

My guess is he's probably realised his rushed signings weren't great and has backed up his belief in a good scouting network.Ive no idea what it was like at Wigan.
I didnt think Wilson did all the scouting by himself I think it was done between him and a few of his cronies.I think when the budget is tight then managers will vary in prioritising different areas of the club.
Did Morgan arrive that early ? Im surprised at that as I was thinking Wilson didn't come until January. So we suffered even longer than I thought .

If you turn over every stone at Chesterfield my guess is you'll find slime. It's not Danny Wilson (why "cronies?" Pooch, you make an nice ordinary decent midfield dynamo sound like a Trotskyite infiltrator; a bloke who used to pay his money and come and watch us some Saturdays), or Deano, or Cookie, or even Sheri and his anger-management ........... We have had one manipulator for the past five years. Mr Allen would have liked to have thought it was him, but he's still around, even if he's now playing the ghost instead of Hamlet. Eventually the manipulator himself disappeared into the past tense, leaving only that Cheshire-Cat smile.
