Well it's back to Scottish Cup business at an almost sold out ER Stadium. Do Hibs deserve that support? I don't believe they do after the past couple of 'disinterested' league performances by a good number of Hibs players!!!
I'm delighted this is a home tie and I wanna see Hibs 'grab this match by the scruff of the neck' with a high energy, tough performance v fairly weak opposition. I listened to their previous match reports in their Scottish Cup ties v Clyde and this Ayr side is a poor one but there's no doubt they will try to 'raise their game' all the same. Hibs have definitely nurtured an element of doubt amongst the Cabbage support and no f###### wonder after the uninspiring events since turning over the Hearts but injuries have 'disturbed' our defensive formation and the fall back position of not losing goals has not been enforced. IMO 'secure the back door' and take it from there in league and cup commitments. I'm hoping that the likes of Ambrose has one match and a few days training to at least familiarise himself with Hibs players who he has not played alongside before - not perfect but it's better than nothing! I'd also be tempted to rest John McGinn whose wee brother 'showed him up' at New Saint Mirren Park and he didn't exactly excel v the Pars either! However, his natural replacement would be Dylan Mac who is not available. The other option is a high risk punt on Martin replacing him? I'm also tempted to drop Boyle and give Keatings a run but there is a 'much of a muchness' between this pair. We are definitely gonna attack Ayr United and I'd also like to see a 'physicality element' forced on our opponents. I'll be surprised if Hibs lose this game esp in front of such a huge support that will be there to back the boys. They shouldn't be playing footie if they can't 'raise their game' with that kinda backing!! C'mon Hibs - lets win this match and pick up some much needed momentum before we visit Tannadice with a huge Hibs away support again heading north to provide the requisite solid encouragement!!
