Of himself.

Gary Neville talking about his retirement decisions after West Brom and Stoke games ...... "when you have average players causing you problems". These players are not / were not average, they may not have been top six elite, but they were top professionals playing in the premier league. I really hate this kind of obnoxious arrogance from teams (players) that have manipulated football to create an exclusive top six club or bought their success before having the rules changed to prevent other teams investing owners money, there by being able to compete on a level playing field. The sooner they p##s off to a European super league the better.

I take it, that with 52 views and no comments for or against, I am the only person that finds the "little ole Albion, little ole Stoke, little ole whoever, I shouldn't have any problem dealing with them" attitude patronising and demeaning. Nothing against the man. A good footballer and I've never met him but just because certain teams buy up all the talent, a lot then left to rot in the stiffs, to prevent fair competition from the rest of the league and therefore guarantee sucess. Does not make them average players, just unlucky or better morally becomes they'd rather play than pick up cash warming a bench.

This attitude and the but look at my car brigade are what's wrong with the modern game ........

Personally I thought that Gary Neville was an average player who just happened to play for a "big" club. to see him taken apart by Jerome Thomas didn't strike me as too surprising.

Zinman, I would probably agree, to play top flight football you have to be a good footballer so that would mean there are a lot of good footballers raising the standard and would make him average, playing among excellent players hides a multitude of sins and can make you look better than you are.

His arrogance in saying he decided to retire because he struggled to cope against average players at clubs like west brom and stoke is the thing that annoys me. Not everyone has a multi multi million pound squad to hide behind.

Is it time to cut the likes of man utd, man city, arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and tapping up Tottenham loose and to rejoin the football league, a more balanced, even, level playing field?.
