The biggest furore was over their disallowed goal but I thought that was the easiest decision. You have to have two defenders between the attacker and the ball for the player to be onside and the keeper usually counts as one of those defenders. In this case there was only one - Dawson - so Antonio is offside.

BaggieSteve, although I normally agree with what you have to say, I don't understand this? As I saw it, 2 defenders = keeper and Dawson, so must be a goal. Unless foul on keeper was the reason!

Oh and I cheered on our equaliser, though the moaners didn't seem to have - another point gained.

But he was behind Foster and only in front of one defender Dawson so offside,

They covered this incident quite a lot over here on tv. Antonio being offside wasn't the issue, he was clearly offside, the question was whether he was interfering with play. Replays showed he made a move towards the ball and actually collided with the keeper, so in the eyes of the ref and his assistant, he was interfering with the play and therefore the offside was flagged correctly.

As i understood this, the goal was disallowed for the push on the goalkeeper, offside was not the issue.

BBB, he was offside because he was behind Foster when the shot was hit which meant there was only one defender between him and the goal, which was Dawson. However, the point has also been made that the real issue is whether he was interfering with play, not just that he was offside so I think you're right - the fact that he gave Fozzie a helpful shove may indicate that perhaps he was interfering just a bit! Like you, also happy with a point although I get the impression that, with a bit more ambition and a little less conservatism, we could have had three. Let's not be greedy though Big Grin

All in all it was a good away day and I literally cannot recall celebrating a goal a passionately as that equaliser. Any others on here make the trip?

I wasn't that impressed with their new ground as it's really not suited to football. The upper tier where I was seated was a bring your binoculars job to be honest.

Looking forward to visiting an old school and proper ground Goodison Park on our next away game.

I'm with HRK I'd written us off at 2-1 with so little time to go and couldn't believe my joy at seeing the FT score 2-2
Theres a lot of talk about the offside was it wasn't it? was it a foul or not but the bottom line is it looked like there was some foul play
and as someone else said the MOTD pundits said MO got all his decisions right. We also had one thunder off the cross bar so we could have been 2-0 up
then it would have been different
Bilic i'm afraid needs to keep his temper
because he's another reason why football followers accept violence in the modern game. A lot of foreign managers and players earn
massive sums of money from playing in this country and I for one don't condone them bringing attitudes that we should not accept here.
I don't have children and i'm thankful for that because i wouldn't want them growing up thinking its ok to become violent as a grown adult
and incite others to follow suit over a game. Slavan is a very naughty boy :-D

Another point to make for those that didn't understand TP subs he clearly explained on interview that west ham had changed their shape
and he needed to change ours because they were running all over us. Maybe their is more to it than 22 grown men running around kicking a pigs bladder
as me ole mum used to say. Give the guy a break eh? I think he's clearly shown he's a very decent manager by now even if we don't all like his style
were getting harder to beat scoring goals playing some decent footy at times and well on course for a best ever finish all bar a horrible collapse? Oh blimey did I really just say that lol! Boing Boing

Offside is one of the laws of association football, codified in Law 11 of the Laws of the Game. The law states that players in an offside position, when the ball is touched or played by a teammate, may not become actively involved in the play. A player is in an offside position if any of their body parts with which they can touch the ball during any other part of the play is in the opponents' half of the pitch and closer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-to-last opponent (usually, but not necessarily always, the last defensive player in front of the goalkeeper).

Therefore he was offside as he only had 1 player infront of him when the ball was passed to him.
