Brendon Batson

Not sure if anyone caught an interview with Brendon Batson last night (Sunday) on BBC radio Five. It was on at about 9.15pm and it was excellent. Brendon talked about his career with most of it focusing on his time at the Albion and it was like a walk down memory lane for me. Not surprisingly, he spoke very warmly about Cyrille and Laurie as the Three Degrees but he spoke equally positively about Tony Brown, Len Cantello, John Wile, Ally Brown and Derek Statham. Although expressing his dismay about Big Ron's later comments as a commentator, he was very complimentary about him as someone who encouraged all his players, regardless of their race or colour. Brendon came across as a really warm, friendly and intelligent guy..just what you'd expect from an Albion player! They also played the radio commentary of the Albion goals from the 5-3 win at Old Trafford; spine tingling even now and after so many years on.
