Suicidal at the back, the three blind mice never give us owt anyway so no point complaining about it. We gave a 41 year old keeper nowt to break into a sweat about. We give them the ball twice just in their half and we were done for speed at the back both times. I did mention it might happen earlier.
Their first win for the new manager, first goals, first league win and first goals at the Mcgalphsmiths in a league game. Even the dingles could see we pushed up so far we were wide open to a counter attack. Hudson probably did himself a favour tweaking a hamstring so early. Done twice now by potential trap door sitters in two games. The league is getting so tight we might join them if we don't pick up points in December.

Defensively we are seriously in the shyte, why he dropped Hef I dont know, Stankovic is like a pencil with wooden legs, nowhere near Championship level and there's too much tinkering from DW for my liking.
We once again gave the ball away in vital areas and were punished, we created but dont have the presence in the box to convert the good build up play, dont win headers in the opponent box and we're a million miles away from our August and Sept form
Herr Wagner can bury his head all he likes, talk about identity but we've been sussed out royally, tonight Oggy suggested we needed a burly front man like their Dutch guy and he said that was going back 14 months - ridiculous.
The ref didnt help with his woeful display but thats clutching at straws, 4 points out of 21 is relegation form and somehow with more injuries and suspensions looming we need to rediscover or mojo otherwise its going to be a long season as we slide southwards.
So disappointed this evening, we've shown once again live on tv we can in parts play but overall we're way off the required level and consistency is our achilles heel.

What a bloody shambles!
We played well in patches, but it's the same old story of not being penetrative enough and the final pass going astray. We could easily have beaten Wigan tonight by a country mile, but we didn't.
Individual mistakes cost us again. Stanko had a stinker. Ward came and hesitated for the one on one for their second. How on earth did Wildschitt get so clear ahead though in the first place?
But the biggest individual mistake of the night, once again came from the referee. The foul on Wells that was the most stonewall penalty of all time, that he didn't give, was quite frankly unbelievable. What do we have to do to get a penalty? There were two more that we could've had as well. The standard of refereeing in this league iis appalling. Not just ours either. The ref at Barnsley on Friday night was actually worse than ours.
Positives? Mooy looked more like his old self. We're still in the top six.

If there are still people who talk of top six after that abject display, then they need to call into the chemist for some medication. Top half if we ride our luck big style. That really was shocking. Not sure what possession stats were. Very highly weighted in our favour I guess. But rarely looked imaginative enough to do awt with it. Passing around at the back and midfield with not the slightest hint of penetrating the opposition defence. Apart from the goal, and the one that was close to a tap in for Kachunga in first half, there was nothing, not a thing. We looked completely bereft of ideas going forward, and a complete shambles at the back. Their big fella up front was a handful, but come on, it was too bloody easy for him. A decent team would have walloped us last night, and I'm expecting one to come along sooner rather than later. Ref missed a couple that might on another day have been given as penalties, but that is papering over the cavernous cracks. You guys see them far more often than I do, and if this game is a reflection of how we play, I worry. Considering we have an international bias to our team, they couldn't play more like the pointless unpenetrating possession football that the England national team play if they tried. Having said all that, it's a lovely crisp sunny day today, so I'll chill a little, and forget about footy until the next time.

Now that we've had a sleep what do we think?
I think for one there are some absolutely clueless feckers who watch this club. People who are never happy and have to constantly bring everything down. People who never appreciate who we are, what we have and where weve come from. People who have short term memories and only remember what suits them.
The game yesterday, we went too gung ho and left too few back and got caught on the break. Thats the glaring defensive negative purely because they came to do a smash and grab, they succeeded.
Attacking wise, we dominated the game. 70% possession 30 shots only 5 on target, theres your major negative, we dont get behind teams the same as we used to our chances seem to be half chances or range shots. We dont seem to get one on ones anymore. Otherwise in an attacking sense we got enough crosses in but never got on the end, some good last ditch headers from them too. We maybe slowed the game down at the wrong times and have to reset. For me the reason we are toothless uptop is because we dont put wells or kach behind the opposition defence. We play one pass too many or take one touch too many. That comes to confidence and also the need to score the perfect goal. The one pass too many should be attempted when 3 goals to the good.
Overall, was the performance that bad, was the football on show that bad, no. It was a good possession based performance, it just lacked the essentials. Were there aspects that were not good, absolutely. We are huddersfield town, we are still way above where we all thought we would be, at the moment we are sliding back to mid table where everyone before the first game would have been happy nay overjoyed with after previous seasons. See short term memory supporters. Can we get back to where we were, yes definitely, one good result and the whole atmosphere around the place will change. One dominant victory and the season could very well turn again.
In terms of the players
ward- had nowt to do really. Some decent stops, couldnt do much with the first goal, second goal, did he go down too early, maybe, but he was left unprotected due to being to gung ho, look at the players in front for blame
Smith- solid enough, got forward well, probably too far forward. It was he who stepped over the ball for our goal...
lowe- again he got a few decent crosses in the box but not the sort for wells.
Stankovic- he looked out of place. Hopefully nerves. Dived in too much and got caught out. Probably not ready yet, better in a 3 probably. He'd be more suited to it.
hudson- not on long enough, would he have made a difference? Maybe.
schindler- why did he stop on their first goal? He also got caught too far forward. But i like him, we just need to find the right man alongsidr him. He's out of form, start of the season he looked a quality signing and you dont become poor over night. He'll be back to what he was.
Hogg- hampered himself with the early yellow card. Probably a bit unlucky with the first goal. Got a touch but not enough. In terms of the rest of the game, maybe he slowed the game down a bit too much. Too much is said about going backwards.
mooy- looked more like himself. He has so much quality that at times he can be frustrating when he doesnt do as much attacking wise. Could he be the number 10, yes if he tries to feed wells, kach and doesnt drop as deep as he sometimes does.
billing- probably same as mooy at times, one pass too many, but there were positives with his cameo.
Scannell- struggled with injury, probably would have come off if hudson hadnt have got injured. Wigan were still scared off him even with injury. We need to get his confidence up.
palmer- another one touch, one pass too many player. Looked a bit out of it too. But another one who has that quality and needs to start feeding the strikers more rather than over complicating things.
rvlp- frustrating player, has a hell of a lot of ability and doesnt always show it. Tries to beat a man too many times and seems to have a brain fade in the last third and has to turn back. On his day a revelation, other days a frustration.
Kach- works hard and should be one of the first names on the sheet each week. I couldnt say if he'd be better suited to running in behind the defence as we never get to see him do it.
wells- did well for our goal, dropping too deep or too wide. Not playing on the last man enough. Should have had a penalty in the one time he got behind their defence. For me he was at fault for their second. Stupid pass led to their break, especially when there was an easier pass on. Dont know what he was trying to achieve to be fair.
Wagner- did the best with the one sub he had. Would bunn on for scanz been better. Bunn seems to produce off the bench. Think its the players who overelaborate when on the pitch. Just hope he sees where we are lacking and what we need. But after the summer i think he'll know what we need. Really we are an allround striker short and one big performance short of turning the season back on.
Now would people rather this football with these players or go back to chris powell, simon grayson, andy ritchie? We have a good manager in wagner and he's still learning and adapting. Anyone who says he should be at risk or worse should go support a club who operate the revolving door policy. We should back wagner to the hilt for a good few years yet

A lot of players have come out of form at exactly the same time. Schindler, Lowe, Palmer, Wells the list goes on. Kach in fairness is still playing well he just needs support. Palmer needs a rest. He's a bit similar to Wells at the moment. Heavy first touch, doesn't know what to do with the ball. Looks a bit lost. Give Payne a run and see if he can start scoring and assisting. Hef needs to come back in. No idea why Stankovic was playing. Think with Schindler out of form needs to be Hef and Hudson as the first choice partnership. We're playing shite so we need to grind out points and wins until Jan when we can regroup and invest in some new signings that will (hopefully) give some players a kick up the backside. Ref should be dropped down to the Vanarama southern premier isthmian league after that. So bad it looked fixed.

Well said. This thread is almost DATM in its negativity. Dread to think what apocalyptic posts are going on on there. We'll probably drop to 10/12th by end of Christmas if we're lucky. But to be honest, I'd have taken 10th at start of the season. The plan's are in place. I know for a fact we are after players in Jan and the right ones. Keep the faith. UTT.

I don't know how many times I've said this....but we have been truly found out.
Any manager worth his salt must know how to play against us now.
Soak it up, let us have the ball, and then quickly hit us on the counter.
Our play is so predictable that it's almost laughable now.

We're still the same team as we were at the start of the season. The major thing that has changed in the meantime is luck. Some players are out of form, yes, but at the start of the season everything from the glaring misses by Barnsley to the Hefele goal at Villa went our way.
Right now, nothing is dropping in our lap. We need to play better, quicker and with more purpose. We can't rely on lady luck.

if one of us takes lady luck for a good wine and dine do you think she will come around? in all seriousness we just need to put strikers through one on one more. that way there are more things for defences to worry about, we can then go wide or down the middle, make them think, atm they dont really have to think, just prepare.
