There'll be bluebirds over the green, green grass of Cardiff

Who are ya? Who are ya?

Founded in 1899 and originally known as Riverside AFC. They originally played at Ninian Park and moved to the new Cardiff City Stadium in 2009. They always played in blue and white, hence their nickname, Bluebirds. Owner, Vincent Tan, famously fiddled with this and changed the kit to red and calling them the Red Dragons, believing it to be lucky. This went down like a lead balloon with the fans and eventually the original colours and nickname were restored. Their claim to fame is that they are the only team from outside England to win the FA Cup which they did in 1927.

Going into the game ...

We are guaranteed to go into this match in 3rd position which sounds good, doesn't it? We may feel like we are holding on to the top quite precariously but it's not a bad place to be. Cardiff, meanwhile, are struggling in 21st, just one place above the relegation zone. That being so, surely we can actually enjoy going into a match as favourites for once? ...  Whistle If only it was that easy! Our overall record against them is good, 29 wins to 22 and 20 draws. HOWEVER, since they rejoined us in the Championship in 2014 (after only one season in the Premiership), we have lost three and drawn one.

Club Connections

First off, that man Neil Warnock who has made more comebacks than the Rolling Stones, is now in charge of the Bluebirds. He is accompanied by Ronnie Jepson and Kevin Blackwell.

We want to be together ... Jepson, Warnock and Blackwell at previous club, Rotherham

Currently in the Cardiff squad we have five former Terriers...

I'd look like that, too, if I was wearing a Leeds shirt. Shame on you, Pelts.

An example of Cardiff comedy ...

Famous Cardiffians include ...

Roald Dahl, Tessie O'Shea, Griff Rhys Jones, Shirley Bassey, Charlotte Church, and none other than ... drum roll, please ... Shakin' Stevens!

Famous footballers from Cardiff include ...

Ryan Giggs (how boring was he as a pundit when England played Scotland?), Terry Yorath (Jacko's sidekick), Craig Bellamy (do I not like), Gareth Bale (not as irritating as his teammate Cristiano Ronaldo), and John Toshack.

Getting there

Directions and parking

Trains

Once there ...

I can't find any recommendations for pubs. The advise seems to be to go into town for pubs and eateries and stay away from the pubs still used by Cardiff fans near the old Ninian Park.

Away fans sit in the corner (it doesn't say if you have to wear a dunce's hat) between the Ninian and Grange stands.

My line-up

Yeah the ants knee.

Cant think of many we've had from cardiff tbf. There may be a few but i dont think theres many more than mentioned to have played for both. Maybe a few that have town and cardiff seperated by 4 or 5 clubs.

If we want to be in with a serious chance of winning, we cannot allow wittingham to have many set piece opportunities

Apparently, in their infinite wisdom, the Taffs have scheduled an international rugby match at the Millennium Stadium at the same time as ours.
So if you're going be aware of extra traffic.

Interesting use of Colin's photo at Rotherham. Was that intentional? Could be considered controversial, you know.  Whistle
Cabbage is still good for you
