This is a good example of what you previously referred to re the shameful behaviour of the right-wing Tory press. As Scots, we had a bellyful of this shit for months from these morons in the lead up to referendum day in 2014 - predicted by many Scottish critics of these kinda tactics and what a political education it was! Never forgotten and it just depicts what is wrong with our country (not Scotland by the way) and why we are a Disunited Kingdom! Thumb down

Absolutely correct, 0762. But don't forget the equally strident abuse from Remainers about those who voted to Leave - sadly, even on here which is relatively mild to that on other sites.

The judges haven't ruled against the vote for Brexit, but have ruled that Parliament should decide when and if Article 50 should be activated. As I have previously said, the "hated" Tory MPs, the majority being Remain supporters, now hold the upper hand in any future progress.

I think certain 'remain reaction' to the Brexit result was understandable and mainly due to a very strong view it was a 'hijacked vote' with much of the shameful mainstream press 'selling it' in a similar propaganda campaign to the press and media shenanigans north of the border in 2014. Also the shameless lies, exaggerations and false promises were gut-wrenching and just confirmed my previous poor regard for British politicians in general and the crass way that they go about their business. At least parliamentarians collectively can hopefully debate all the 'nonsense' that was bandied about by Farage, Johnson, Davies and many other shameless representatives of this shameless campaign which was far worse than any of the muck that could be thrown towards people who naturally wanted to keep the status quo and work towards improvement from within and not isolationism and a Little England mentality! Also study the discussion below between Farage and Gina Miller, the main campaigner who fought to bring a formal Brexit debate and final decision to the UK parliament - IMO the 'talker' put in his place reasonably well by someone with a real conviction to force home a constitutional truth and have it confirmed in the law courts! Well done to her!

Lastly, the fairly cooperative comments (see link below) of Labour's leader, Jeremy Corbyn, to broker Brexit just adds to my bemusement and irritation re this guy's key role in the possibility of the Brexit vote ever materialising with his benign remain announcement on behalf of the New Labour Party weeks before the final vote - another puzzling feature of this whole referendum fiasco!!

Another non story.

The people have voted and if the MPs don't carry out the wishes of the general public then the MPs will be effectively making themselves unemployed at the next General election....and UKIP will stroll into parliament

Is this the same UKIP that is visibly imploding at this current time? Another embarrassment to British politics TBF! Also some of the British people voted to leave and it was never a super duper huge majority that many Brexit protagonists keep exaggerating at every opportunity. And MPs lose their jobs? Not really because it was never a huge majority and if the vote was rerun tomorrow it would most certainly be a resounding remain vote mainly because we've discovered there was no real plan, no green paper and no white paper either and many within the British voting population were effectively 'sold a pup'!!
Lastly, the latest revelation that Scotland's most senior law officer, The Lord Advocate, will be assigned by the Scottish govt to contribute to the debate during May's appeal to the Supreme Court, says it all for me - a fitting legal intervention from a Scottish point of view and lets force the UK PM back to a parliamentary debate and collective decision re Brexit!

I think you are glorifying the Lord Advocates role in all this. He has not been assigned to contribute, he has asked permission to be able to contribute, permission that may or may not be granted. Got to love Nicola and her grandstanding, love the way she says Scotland should be treated as an equal partner in the decision and process but how exactly would that work?? The referendum was won by a total of 1.4m votes (wrong decision in my view), so even if all the Scottish votes had been given to remain, the leave campaign would still have won across the UK as a whole!! Scotland should have a say proportionate to its size within the UK, which equates to about 10%. That might be enough to swing the vote but its as much as equal should mean in this case.

To be quite honest, once Nicola manages to tell the difference between a Scottish Parliament and a UK Parliament, and a Scottish Referendum and a UK Referendum, I'd happily be prepared to listen to her and might actually agree with her. Until then, she's just being a wee nippy sweetie - not my idea of someone to be taken seriously.
