Match Thread - QPR v SWFC

A good point but it should have been three. No fault of ours, solely down to the incompetence of the match officials. Two straight red cards, one penalty. How did they all possibly fail to see what everyone else in the ground did. You can always tell from the reaction of the other team whether or not they have committed the foul and that horrible dirty twat Hill had it written all over his face. Konchesky made the challenge on Joao and looked straight at the linesman and then at the ref, he knew he was nowhere near the ball.

QPR had their spells, that's to be expected, but we made all the changes and still competed with a side full of supposed Premier League players.

Loovens was outstanding, Wiggins and Semedo looked like they'd been in the side all season. Palmer returned and added defensive ability in the RB slot. Nuhiu was a constant menace and a handful all night, although he never looked like scoring. Such a massive frustration that the only thing that stopped us coming away with a superb away victory was the referee and his assistants. I've never seen CC so animated on the touch line, you could feel his frustration in the stand.

Westwood 7 - One great save, never under pressure.

Palmer 7 - Solid and reliable on his return.
Lees 7 - Early season worries have disappeared.
Loovens 8 - Collosal performance, looked like a player fighting for his shirt.
Wiggins 8 - Best game in a Wednesday shirt. Again, looked determined to keep the shirt.

Sougou 6 - Another victim of Clint Hill's thuggery. Hope he's ok
Semedo 8 - This guy will never let us down. Doesn't have Hutch's talent on the ball but he's got his heart, without the naivety.
Magugan 7 - Our most creative influence in the first half. Faded after the break.
Bannan 6 - A bit off his game again, I'd rest him at Rotherham. Missed a great chance in stoppage time.

FF 5 - Never in the game. Off at HT, was he carrying a knock?
Nuhiu 7 - Hussled and bustled and never got a sniff from the incompetent clown in black.

Subs - Wallace 6, Lee 6, Joao 7.

Hopefully we haven't come away with two many knocks apart from the obvious injury to Sougou. More decisions for CC for Friday, I can't wait.

I'd have taken a point before the game (as long as we beat Rovrum on Friday night), although it sounds like we matched them and probably could have nicked it with a fair wind and a ref. with two eyes!

Saw the incidents on Sky last night and even before the commentary said it was Clint Hill I knew just by the way he committed the foul, sorry, "tackled" Sougou.

From the one view I've had of the penalty appeal when Joao went down it looked like another one of those "I've see them given", a bit like the one on Lee last Saturday. Not as clear cut as the foul on Maghoma last time we played down there!

A big positive is the rotation of the squad and the apparent competition for almost all positions.

It doesn't help that is two games on the trot where officials have been dodgy. Especially these characters from last night. I'd almost say they had money on it, it was that bad!!

Sougou had taken the ball away from hill, it wasn't and "if" or a "maybe" Sougou had taken it and was already at running speed, Hills was not. It's shit like this that makes me realize it is only going to get worse. As Refs try to impress "The right people" to get in to the right club. They don't need to screw a pigs face they just need to favour the bigger clubs!

The Konchesky tackle would be given against us all day every day. We'd have received a red too. Warnock must have been laughing all the way to the officials dressing room.

As with FIFA and the FA there's no higher (independent) governing body to which the Referee's association has to answer to. There's no penalty for outright incompetence (at best) and cheating ( at worst)

Sounded like they crocked Mcgugan, Sougou and roughed up Nuhiu & Joao.... And the ref did Sweet FA.

I really do despise cheats..

MOVING FORWARD!

In many ways it was a non-event of a match. We put in a classic away performance against a decent team but just failed to score to goal to make it a perfect smash & grab raid.

All the talk will be about the referee. As at Wigan the other year, this referee failed to send off a player for a clear red card offence. His positioning was poor but surely an assistant could have seen it. Mark Halsey, former PL referee & QPR fan, said it was a clear red card. He also added that we should have had a penalty & QPR a second red card when Konchesky fouled Joao.

CC made seven changes. We never looked quite as dominant in midfield as usual without Lee & Hutchinson. QPR pretty much only created half chances and our defence looked pretty secure. Wallace replaced Sougou after that foul and Joao replaced Forestieri at half time.

We looked more of a threat with Joao on the pitch and his pace should have won us a penalty. Nuhiu works hard but he does't pose any goal threat.

Westwood - 6

Maybe it shows how far we have come that we are disappointed with a point at QPR.

We showed the strength of squad by making seven changes and still nearly getting the win although we are not quite the same side without Hutchinson & Lee in midfield.

We have to go again on Friday & we will need our best team to beat a Rotherham side with the benefit of New Manager Syndrome.

Just listened to the post match interview with CC on the Radio Sheffield site.
A great guy with lots of composure and what seems like a great man manager with keeping all the squad happy and playing so well whoever is selected.
Can't help feeling that at some point all the cogs are going to be in full alignment and that we will score goals for fun - hopefully starting on Friday.

Personally I hope he is in the job and successful for many years to come. A breath of fresh air compared to some of our dour managers of the past. Whoever pointed DC to recruit him is a genius in my book.

I feel we are not quite firing yet but I wouldn't be surprised if everything clicks soon & we hit a winning run of half a dozen matches.

By playing a shadow team for midweek matches then we should be fresher than our opponents for weekend matches which gives us an edge during these runs of heavy match schedules. It might all come together this season or it may be next season but it will come together.
