January Transfer Rumours

An insignificant amount ,hardly going to make or break our season .I suppose it would enable us to bring a young loanee in.
Saunders had the biggest budget in the clubs history and that's why he signed the decent players we have with us .Jeez even I could sign decent players if I had the money at my disposal. He didn't get the best out of them its as simple as that.
If we keep this squad we should be ok for mid table ,with a few quality additions we could finish higher.

I'm just wondering who these decent players are that Mr Saunders got us.

Okay SEB has been and sometimes is a good player, but wasn't exactly sought-after anymore. We relieved Birmingham of Novak's wage. Herd was unwanted and permanently either injured or flopping on loan. Saunders got us an unwanted player from the Baggie's fringes ....... Donohue who is showing genuine promise came from non-league at no great cost. Players who were breaking through for us like Ariyibi and Simons were already here. He froze out Harrison and Onovwigun completely. He loaned us a Rotherham centre back who has failed everywhere and played us one very good game ........... And he was very unlucky with Angel who if he comes back might be our saviour, but did he cost us much ...... unwanted at Millwall isn't the greatest recommendation.

What did Mr Saunders do with our biggest ever budget? Could it really have been the biggest? Bigger than Cox's of thirty five years ago in real terms? I mean who cost what ...... and what the hell are the wages if this the result of our biggest ever budget? The squad has no defensive cover and is short a midfielder or two if Morsy goes. I know we beat Shrewsbury .... but we need to take note of their opinion, they're shedding players from that team like there's no tomorrow.

Id say the decent players Saunders has signed are as follows:
SEB
Novak
Herd
O Neill
Angel(possibly)

None will have come cheap I would imagine .

Seb, Herd and Angel were frees but I imagine they will be on good money.

O'Neil was a fee but was undisclosed

Rumour on Bob's Board that Novak is on £10k a week and that Birmingham are paying £5k and we are paying £5k. Which I can't see happening.

Like you see pooch none would have come cheap.

Jordan Bowery has been told he can leave Rotherham. Think he will be back?

So basically the biggest-ever budget amounts to a small undisclosed fee and some big wages. Not impressive.

O'Neil - Saunders largely dispensed with his services after a few games, so if he was a legacy it's not one even he recognised. If he's on a big wage (which he might even be worth) what the hell did Saunders think he was a-doin of?

Herd - I'm sure he can play a bit, but we are in what must be the longest injury-freeish run of his career. He was unwanted, if we lumped into his pay packet to get him we were daft. Mr Saunders would be a worse negotiator than David Cameron.

SEB - always liked him, but Preston didn't want him, their fans thought he was overweight. I can't imagine there was a huge clamour for his services ..... but Deano knew him from Wolves. Were we in a wage-bidding war? Mind you I'm glad we got him.

Novak - the reason he's still at Birmingham is no one can match the criminal wages they agreed ....... I can believe the half and half deal. It happens a lot when one team's desperate to reduce a financial burden and the other's desperate for a striker. He's doing fine for us ..... but fine enough to cover for our manager having a zero budget? Fine enough to be worth £100,000 to the end of the season?

Angel - had barely played a first-team game in two seasons. If we paid a big wage to lure him, we should hire his agent too.

My point is that our dealings lack transparency. If we spent our budget we did it to create a team headed for relegation until Christmas Eve.

It's doing great now, but at the moment we've got O'Shea, as he has done for every new manager, playing out of his socks. Experience tells us that particular honeymoon will be over by the end of January. We may lose Morsy. Herd just IS fragile. Angel is nowhere near playing yet. Evatt's achilles sounds as though it could have been worse, but the achilles is never good and our defensive cover is Maguire and Humphreys. Is it enough? Okay if we sell Morsy that creates a small budget, but if getting another like him were easy he wouldn't be in demand.

We're asking Danny and Chris Morgan to do a lot with nothing or next to nothing. It may be true as Matt says there are no really good teams in our division, but no one's that bad either; Oldham beat us, Colchester have had a bad run, but they're not terrible, even Crewe pull out the occasional result ........ Getting relegated would be easy. Our current rate of gaining points would see us just safe, but we'd need to win more than we lose for the rest of the season to finish halfway.

Hird signed until the end of the season. That's a bit of good news. He's getting better and better.

Herd's problem is that injuries have prevented him reaching his full potential. Maybe he can stay fit ....... but Aaron was leading Cheltenham back to the league in his usual heroic fashion till cruciate problems struck last Saturday ........ You have to hope age (maturity) makes Herd less of a Wilshere and that good old Aaron can amaze everyone by coming back yet again.

Persistent injury must be very difficult to endure in a career that's about youth and dreams.

Also rumour going around that several L2 clubs are after Gary Liddle and apparently he could be sold.
