How can a club be in anyway criticised for making a bid if this is the case? Since value is subjective, in this situation any bid is a fair bid.

Who said the club hadn't stated a price ? I'd imagine in negotiations Rangers will know full and well how much he is available for. If they aren't willing to meet the price should either move on or test their resolve on the last day.
