McCall wants the gig. Seemed fairly obvious if unspoken.

Could he make a difference?

He has a decent record organising and motivating on a limited budget: and that's the gig.

I don't know if I want McCall in the job. As much as I like the guy and think he did a great job at Motherwell, doing well at a club with no expectations means you don't have to worry about losing every few games. McLeish was the same type of manager and as Advocaat's players ebbed away his record at Rangers got worse and worse.

McLeish did well during a period of cutbacks, only in his final season did he fail to win a trophy. I'm sure if he could have replaced like with like his final year would have been different.
Anyway, McCall is an option that's available. There are others, obviously but I don't see anyone coming in to the boardroom and setting their sights too far afield for a manager.

The problem is that our players have no confidence, in each other or the 'system' being used. As long as the old pals act is evident, then we'll continue to struggle. McCall might be able to set out a team that doesn't automatically hinder itself by the inclusion of sub standard ageing 'legends', but as most of those are out of contract soon, it'd maybe be a knee jerk reaction to appoint McCall now.
We have a major squad rebuild imminent, and we'll need someone with a plan who can find the quality of players required. I don't see Stuart McCall as that man, unfortunately. I also can't see him just taking the job short term until the end of the season.

Christ if they can't see what's gone wrong by now!

Lee McCulloch Wrote:“The way they pressed is something we’re going to have to get used to dealing with." F*cking hell, he doesn't half talk some shite. Every team we've struggled against this season has pressed us, this shouldn't be a 'new' thing to him or any of the team. Does he even pay attention to the games he plays in? Is there ever any analysis of the team performance after a game? 'Cos we can see just by watching it live how teams are able to get the better of us. More importantly, our opposition can see how teams play against us and get the better of us. Why the f*ck can't he see it? |
