I'm still trying to work out if Rangers were poor or Queen of the South were good. Now I know this is the second division of Scotish football but for some reason I was expecting Rangers to be better than what I saw, maybe it was just the nerves kicking in but time and again I saw misplaced passes that put Rangers under pressure when they simply didn't need the pass. It's safe to say I wasn't impressed.
Rangers were poor and QotS were quite good. QotS have a fair reputation for passing football, and they aren't scared of possession. Their style is one to be envied, copied and developed further.
Rangers, as you say underperformed, much as we have been doing for the last two seasons. The disastrous plan of packing the team with former players and letting them dictate the style of play has been McCoist's undoing, and remnants of that ethos still exist. That along with the obvious deficiencies in our team - a woeful lack of pace in midfield and defence and a chronic lack of confidence in both themselves and each other - has been at the core of all our poor performances in recent times. I thought - well, we nearly all thought - that McCall coming in would address these glaring deficiencies, but it seems while he's plugging the leaks in one area, he's letting water in somewhere else. The team desperately needs a clear out, and rebuilt with a fresh perspective.

Second half better from Rangers, and were it not for the QofS keeper it could've been 3 or 4, a couple of decent saves and one that just struck him as the header seemed destined for the back of the net but still they made hard work of it. Initially I thought the equaliser was offside but on the replay it seems to show he was level. After that It was going ho from both teams especially in the last 10minutes, Rangers were defending deeper and deeper and having to defend corner after corner, one that was headed off the line(good last ditch defending) but they had chances to kill the game off. 3minutes of added time and for some reason RFC are still trying to score instead of running the ball into the corner and kill time...they have to learn to kill the game rather than getting carried away by the crowd.
A fair summary, Wakey.

I was baffled by the substitutions McCall made, throwing defenders on and sitting back inviting trouble onto an already shaky defence, although the deep defensive line wasn't part of the plan going by McCall's actions on the touchline.
Mohsni's 'horse-has-bolted' burst up the pitch was destined to end with either a stunning goal, a comedic tumble over his own galloping hooves, or a tame shot at goal. The idea of retaining possession clearly never entered his stampeding mind. As a comedy aside, he's a wonderful horse. As a footballer though, he's become a pantomime donkey.
Anyway, cheers for your summary WakeyTerrier, and I hope you enjoyed the whole Ibrox experience.
