Last player to score 4 in a game? I remember Bomber against either Forest or County in the 70s.

First off, I lost a massive net for a 5-0 win Thumb down Then we had WIN which is great and unusual-
Though I have to say that Pullis will have a hell of a job putting this team together to play as a unit. The first half was a shambles, with Gateshead looking the premiership team, and the second half was not much better, and had it not been for some excellent finishing against, I thought, an excellent Conference team.

Good to see Samares, two shots on target and both should have scored had he been a classier finisher, and as for the rest, much too much fiddling around the goal area, and too much back and side movements, whereas Gateshead were more direct.

My opinion, however some will not see it this way.

Let's hope that match was the transition from "old Albion" to "new Albion". The first half was a sorry example of how we've been all season, completely unable to stamp authority on a match, string any passes together or beat a man. A lot of that was probably down to confidence, but we still weren't pushing up the field anywhere near enough or giving Gateshead anything to think about. Our two goals were undeserved on the balance of play, but the kind of quality you have to come up with in these games when you're the bigger team.

Second half, the confidence was a lot better, the general play and movement from our players visibly improved, we shifted through the gears as Gateshead tired and lost morale, and if we'd really gone for the jugular it could have been double figures. Hopefully this'll be the boost the boys need, and TP can get that midfield working again.

Just watched the highlights and he's making himself look a real sulky little prima donna - hate that reaction from players when they score.
'Yeh....well, I've just scored ANOTHER....yawn....just let this game be over now'.

Agreed with the above Drewks and Bournemouth, as I mentioned on the game report. This stupid attitude as many other things after scoring, really pisses me off. Included not wanted to celebrate against a team you have played for. All so childish with low IQ's.

I'd also like to know the reason behind Berahino's lack of a smile, let alone celebrations. I hope it's just because he feels vindicated after not being picked ahead of Anichebe. His first was utter control and then two peaches of curlers from range.

Just watched the highlights (thanks Aries) - weird not even a smile from either him or many of the others - there must have been something more behind this than Berahino's situation.

Maybe it was a respect to AI as any immediate upturn in fortune plus associated celebration/happiness might reflect on his going?

Also TP says "Saido Berahino is a very talented boy. I look forward with him as a player for however long I am here as manager.

"There is always going to be transfer speculation and you can see why. He has great pace, great balance and scores goals. But when I came in here the chairman had not received any offer for him and we will try our damnedest to try and improve him."

This suggests that Tony Pulis is hoping to keep him and invest in players that defend better and feed the goal scorers. Berahino also apparently has said that the new manager is having an impact and has had an influence on the team. They are wanting to work hard and perform for him.

So, lets not panic!
