Huddersfield Town v Sheffield Wednesday

Bit harsh Cas, on Holt he won plenty of headers but Bunn and Scannell don't come close enough to pick up the knock downs. My only complaint about Holt is that he tries to win too many free kicks instead of trying to win the ball. Robinson is no better than Dixon, its a myth, fairy story, he isn't. Wells, agreed he should have scored but to say he was dog shit is totally over the top. He was trying too hard to win his place back which led to him panic and making bad decisions.

On Powell, we all knew before he came he was prone to being over cautious, this formation and team selection has won us a few games of late so why change? The players never got going, no spark, no tempo and we failed to hit the recent high standards we have set. I'm as disappointed as you are, as I thought Wednesday were poor and we should be looking to win home games like this one.

Think we need two strikers up top next week but in an ideal world they would be vaughany and nakhi and who actually knows if we'll ever see the former in a town shirt again? Think could be good for bunny to get a rest and bring hammill in next week. Teams are beginning to work out harry and a rest and time to work more on his game could do him the world of good. Hammill will be chomping at the bit to prove himself and put in a good performance.

Everyone talks about the draw being the fair result...and that Wednesday were poor.
I've watched the whole game twice now and only saw one winner - Wednesday.

Apart from the 2 chances for Wells and the Scannell one that was well defended in the 1st half....what did we create?
As for Wednesday....2 goal line scrambles, hit the woodwork twice, a couple of decent shots, and that 4 against 2 near the end where they really should have scored. I'm not including that penalty decision as I thought it was a dive.....stonewall my lily white arse. He left his left leg there in the hope it would hit Lynch's. Cheating in any language.

No I thought Town were poor. Didn't take hold of midfield and defensively looked dodgy. If Wednesday had had better strikers they would have won.
Murphy....he was my joint m.o.m in this game. Saved us a few times...although looked a little dodgy at crosses.
I actually thought Dixon had a decent game. Not too great defensively but did get forward well.
Hudson especially, and Lynch were pretty shocking.
All 3 midfielders were posted missing for me. Poyet....didn't do anything as far as I could see.
Bunn ok in small spells.
Holt ineffectual.
Scannell had some good runs and also tracked back well. Joint m.o.m.
Wells should have buried one of those chances at least...but he still got in the positions to at least try.

Yes. I thought that too. I recorded it to watch again if we won.
Didn't even give it a consideration and deleted it.

1. Smith put clean through inside their area, poor ball into Scannell give their defender chance to block.
2. Dixon put clean through inside their area, takes an extra touch giving their defender chance to block.
3. Wells put clean through and hits it tamely across Westwood who saves.
4. Wells put clean through and takes forever to hit it allowing Westwood to come out and save.
5. Scannell sent clean through but takes a bit too long and Helan (who'd be terrible if he wasn't quick) gets back

The first 2 in particular were a result of brilliant passing football, something Wednesday never did once. Their chances were long balls which we refused to defend, literally, allowing May to run through on goal. We created quite a lot in retrospect actually (the first 2 IMO should have definitely resulted in goals but for the full backs fluffing their lines, as should the 2nd Wells chance).

For me Holt has been extremely poor in the last 3 games, completely ineffective for the most part in all 3. His early form when he signed showed how we should be looking to play and utilise our wide men, but Holt isn't the answer for me. Wells definitely isn't the answer either as he needs someone up top with him and lacks the strength/effort to play up top alone similar to Rhodes prior to his final season with us. Vaughan if he could stay fit is perfect, strong in the air, defends from the front and can hold the ball up to link play much better than either Holt or Wells. Holt is just too lazy/unfit to suit our system as we can at times move the ball quickly through midfield to the wingers just to have Holt stuck behind play leaving Bunn or Scannell with no option but to go it alone or cut back.

Robinson is definitely better than Dixon, granted it's all opinion but for me it isn't close. Dixon's best spell came when we played 352 and he had less defensive responsibility, as he could get forward and look dangerous. At the minute he looks no threat at all, wastes plenty of good chances to get balls in the box, and still cannot defend for his life. He's useless defensively and allowed both Fulham and Wednesday to continuously expose him with ease. Robinson offers little going forward but can actually defend, his positioning is 100% better and he doesn't allow himself to get caught in between the man and the ball like Dixon does constantly.
