Scottish League Cup Semi-Final, 01/02/2015 : Rangers 0-2 Celtic

RANGERS: Simonsen, Foster, McCulloch, McGregor, Wallace, Aird, Law, Black, Hutton, Smith, Miller.
SUBS: Robinson, Clark, Boyd, Shiels, Templeton, Daly, Faure.

Going with a five man midfield is a good thing. Now they just have to step up and not give them all the time they want.

Can't disagree with that Imre, Rangers never really in it once Celtic went ahead and have created virtually no clear cut chances all game. But you are right about Celtic not looking much good either, but then again they haven't had to look that good especially as they got the early lead!!

Yes, thats what they call a "professional" performance from Celtic!! The early lead essentially killed the game as it meant Rangers had to come out of their shell and go for it but were never able to.

Bad, bad day for Larry with Villa gettting hammered at Arsenal!!!!

Not a shocking result or performance. There's only one player in the Rangers match day squad that would survive a cull of dead wood and that's Wallace.

Anybody wanting to see Rangers actually competing for the SPL championship better have some good contacts in the game because we need seven or eight players just to guarantee finishing in the top half never mind top two.

Felt like Ally was still in charge by radio link.

The support were excellent though. Top stuff.

I thought the Rangers fans were quiet in the first half, but Celtic had done a good job to quieten them. In the second half though it was all about the Rangers fans supporting the team and certainly the bulk of the noise was coming from that end!!

Just highlights the need for the fan base to come together and help the club through this season and beyond!! Today was a reminder of what will be to come if you can get back to the top of the Scottish game, the fans need to remember that and stop all the boycotts and get behind the team!!

Can't argue with the result, terrible goals to give away, shocking marking for the Griffiths goal. And as comfortable as Celtic where they didn't look a good side. Support was fantastic today, great from start to finish. As worthing pointed out other than wallace we are short everywhere.

Scottish League Cup Semi-Final 01/02/2015 : Celtic 2-0 Rangers

The expected result, tbh, but whilst Celtic's play flowed, Rangers' play was staccato, rarely showing movement off the ball. This was not augmented by our team's dismal efforts at set-peices. In short, Rangers seemed to be bereft of ideas.

Match Report : Rangers FC - Celtic 2-0 Rangers

Attendance : 50,925

Manager's verdict : Rangers FC - I’m Gutted For Our Fans

P.S., regarding AVFC, my comment on AVillaFan :
A damn nuisance having Villa and Rangers playing simultaneously. I had the stream on for this match, but was watching the Semi-Final on BBC Scotland, so spared myself most of this 'performance' from the Emirates, although the Semi-Final was not much of a consolation prize !

It all seemed to reflect the gap in league positions pretty accurately. A good team would have trounced us today though. Lots of chat from pundits etc. about Celtic playing within themselves, not having to move up gears and so on, but that doesn't explain why they only looked capable of passing the ball between themselves when their defenders were playing keep-ball in their own half. Makes it more disappointing for me that we set out to try not to lose this one rather than to try to win it. The second goal was pretty typical of how shambolic and nervous we are at the back these days, but as much as we need to get shot of rubbish like Black and has-beens like McCulloch, what we really need is a genuine manager to come in and take the team by the scruff of the neck.
