Think Berahino on for Yacob was a good move by TP - a forward replacing a sending-off in the making.

Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink to BBC Sport:
"The unbeaten run goes on but we would have preferred the win.
"West Brom always bounce back, there is great character. It was an intense game.
"Diego Costs controls himself, he is very dangerous. The player is concentrated on his job and doing very well.
"The manager [TP] made a wise decision when he took over the role off the referee and took of Claudio Yacob. The referee forgot to do it."

The only long ball that courtwat needed to worry about was that 25 yard one that flew past him into his net!! And as for provoking players, wtf does he think Costa and Terry do?.

Delightedly with that game, we're playing much better football with good results and Fletcher is looking excellent. Let's keep the momentum going into Saturday.

Think I must have been dreaming watching MOTD. I could have sworn Alan S said "West Brom were superb, really really good".

No he did. You were not dreaming. And Costa should have had 3 yellows and a straight red. The sooner the FA adopt the RFU rule..... No arguing with the ref ... The better.

So how many matches do we have to lose and the Vile win plus match all our other results before they are above us in the league.??

Still no goals from strikers, but can't really complain after that performance and result.
The thing that's really struck me is that in the last 3 (?) league games we've hung in there and scored late on - Tony-time, anyone? A much tougher mindset recently, anyway.

I was at the game last night. Some observations:
  • We took the game to Chelsea from the off and looked the better team for much of the game
  • A draw was probably a fair result - Chelsea had the better chances
  • Willian and Costa were both outstanding
  • As was Fletcher
  • Evans, Dawson, Rondon all performed very well
  • Our first touch let us down at times
  • We could have easily had a couple more goals
  • We didn't play long-ball football despite what Courtois said. The only time we really knocked it long was when we were under the cosh and defenders were making clearances. Generally we tried to pass the ball out of the back four - sometimes a little too much!
  • If we play like that against Southampton we will beat them
  • Fans were great (as per usual)
  • Yacob, Olsson, McClean all looked like they were going to get sent off

    ... As did Costa

  • We didn't put in a single good corner all game. Brunt couldn't beat the first man, Sess and Gards played it too close to the keeper - disappointing from all!
  • We look very dangerous from set pieces - TP and coaches deserve credit for some very inventive plays - this isn't just "lump it in the box"
  • I wouldn't start Morrison in the league - I don't like him in this WBA side and would let him go end of the season.

.....very true BV; also key to our upturn in performance, points tally and entertainment value is us being prepared to go out and play the game on the front foot, rather than concede HUUUUUGE amounts of possession in every game.

I'm sure when Mozza went off so early there must've been many, many people who were frustrated to see Gardner and not Sess replace him. Well - I didn't see the game so can't comment on his overall game - I'd like to hear how he did tho! - but what a fabulous goal he scored! Really pleased for him as he does seem to get an unfair amount of stick generally  Thumb up
