Any road, I'm happy to leave it there; the only other thing I'd say is that as site admin and owner, Stairs will always get the final call on what is or isn't acceptable, and I'll moderate by whatever rules he lays down, so if anyone ever feels I'm being excessively harsh or censorious on a topic then give him a shout, and we'll try and work things out.

Fine.  I assure you there was no slight intended on people whose circumstances prevent them from attending.

Don't you sleep, Ska'd?  Are you more than one person either working on a job-share or three-shift system?  Just how do you do it?  Important people are asking!

Haha - years of working night shifts are responsible for that! I sleep whenever I can get enough blood in my caffeine-stream Laugh

Have a good night, mate Thumb up

However, I'll continue to get rid of pointless, knee-jerk presumptions on the circumstances of other fans if they appear, because they add nothing to the discussion.

I'm sorry Ska'd, but are you saying you edited out a comment because in your opinion it was fatuous and one-upmanship? I don't think you're entitled to do that. By all means delete comments that have offended and caused a complaint, but anything else is censorship. Have I misunderstood your actions here?

Ska'd,
Just for the record bud I have no problem with my post being edited.
I do not try to demean or cause any trouble, quite the opposite. This is a great site with fans posting different opinions so no complaints from me.
Where people live in the country, financial situation and family ties all have a bearing on if people can attend games - this I realise.
Constant negativity and knocking the team we ALL love - I don't

Blimey - looks like I've missed some action on here last night. I can only guess that 1 or 2 posters were having a go at me because I don't go to many games (???)
If that's the case I'd like to point out that

a) I DID go to the Everton and Newcastle games, which were bloody awwwwful - but not nearly as bad as Saturday's game.
b) I can't remember whether I've been to 750+ or 850+ Albion matches, and can't be bothered to tot them up again. It would have been nearer 1500, but I played Saturdays for a few years, and lived in Yorkshire for many more.
c) I had a Season Tkt for 10 years before moving to St.Ives 3 years ago, so - sorry - I can't get back every fortnight, although I do get back for 4 games a year. It's 270 miles door-to-door.
d) Instead, I watch them online every week. Not the same, but I get a good view of how we're playing.

I reiterate that Saturday's performance was the worst I've seen live.
Good defending: yes.
But 23% possession at home tells its tale. This was nothing to do with Liverpool being a much better richer Club - it was to do with a Coach who doesn't appreciate that scoring goals is the best way to come away with a point.
And 58% pass completion also tells its tale. Even in the E & N games I referred to, we passed to each other a lot more often than 58%.
I was in a reasonable mood, meeting up with my old "neighbours" in the East Stand, so I can't say my mind was clouded. It was absolute drivel (apart from when McManaman came on and ran at them; and I wondered whether he might get a bollocking for not kicking the ball into Row Z).

I'd love Tony Pulis to recommend, and land, some proper footballers for next season, and thus change the playing style. But my mate's an Away S/T holder (has been for many years) and he's not going to spend £100 to embarrassingly watch them park the bus next season.
Can't blame him. Let's just hope he/they bring in the right players.

Glad we're not all of the same negative outlook.

Aries - for the record, it is very, VERY rare for me to edit comments on here, and the only time I do so is if I think someone's crossed a line from criticising the opinion of another poster to criticising the poster themselves. I felt that happened in part of a post yesterday, which was why I made the edit. People making value judgements about how good, bad, loyal or disloyal other supporters are is, to me, the point where reasonable discussion goes flying out of the window. As I said last night, if anyone genuinely feels that me sticking my oar in over stuff like that is beyond my remit as a mod, we can discuss it with Stairs and I'll happily change my way of doing things if he agrees it's not the best way for the site.

Squirrel - no problem at all, I do appreciate that a good discussion can get heated and it can be frustrating to see opinions we disagree with or which seem badly thought out getting trotted out over and over again (I've hit the ceiling more than once myself when I've seen folks suggesting we should kick Jeremy Peace out and hand the club over to a Somali warlord, or some such). Do keep having your say, just keep some of the passion left over for matchday Thumb up

Just to stick my nose in here, I think we're very lucky to have the posters that we DO have on this board - like the NEW606 site, people hardly ever get too heated/angry/insulting......unlike most other boards I've seen. Thumb down

That's why we like it, I guess!

Censorship has always got to be a necessary tool when things DO cross that line, and to get a definition of where that line is, is very difficult. I can't even remember seeing a post on here that DID appear to insult anyone, and that's to everybody's credit. I'm sure that Ska'd and Stairs will carry on modding with a very careful and sympathetic eye, and also that us posters will continue debating in a pretty civilised manner.

And if they don't, they can get the FE*K outa here, the f#ckin to$$ers Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Lol Drewks !
Humour is always the best way of banter or when opinions differ.
Whilst I don't mind Ska'd editing a line out of my post ( I agree it reads better without it !) I would like it to be made clear that it didn't contain anything offensive or directed at a particular poster as anyone who did read it will hopefully confirm !
To be honest I'm more concerned about who is now going to buy the club. That could really be the talking point of the summer ...
