Many years ago I shared a flat in Worthing with a hibs fan called Andy Duke. He had a great singing voice. Joiner by trade.

He was a decent bloke.

Exception that proves the rule obviously.

A few years ago, I knew a couple of old guys who were Hibs fans from back when they were de-mobbed in Edinburgh after the war. Just a couple of 'Jack and Victor' types, old guys with a mischievous glint and endless funny stories regaled to us whipper-snappers in the regular lock-ins in the pub. They'd been pals since school, fought the Bosch together (Highland Division - the 'Highway Defacers'), played for and ran the same football team together, were Best Man at each other's weddings, they'd meet up in the pub every day for a crack and a dram. Two nicer, more agreeable and well-liked guys you could not wish to meet, and I'm glad and honoured to have known them both for a number of years.

Jackie Mowat and George 'Rosser' Ross were Hibs fans from a different generation, and a world apart from some of the idiot Hibs fans who post here today.

Times, and standards, have certainly changed for the worse.
