Ward and Hammill on loan to Rotherham for rest of season with view to permanent. Not surprised about ward but hammill too? Don't know whether personal issues came back into it, loss of form or Powell just didn't like him but i really liked hammill. Can't help but think we've made a mistake there, seeing as he was our top assists maker last season and got a few goals.

danny Ward and Adam Hamill have gone to Rotherham.
Let's think about this, below us in the table and we give them 2 players to strengthen the squad

I've read on Twitter that Hammill has a drink problem. Is that based on the one incident that we know about or has it continued into something more?

Judging by what Cas has said it seems to be enough that Powell and Deano both think he's beyond their help now. We helped him during that unfortunate paramedic incident but this might have been the last straw. We are a family club and I don't think deano wants that aggravation from what I've read by other posters who seem to be in the know on this matter.

Strange that despite his 'drinking' problems that we decided to bring him back into the fold just before we shipped him out.
Right now this just looks like a cost cutting exercise by the club, get Hammill and Wards wages off the books and save some brass. By the way, what a great desicion by the board to extend Wards contract last season, that paid dividends!

I think a significant amount thought one more chance for ward wouldn't harm, last chance saloon. We all saw what he could do in fits and starts but he just didn't deliver. What a waste by Lee Clark. He absolutely smashed it for Swindon. I don't know whether we've ruined him or he's a bad egg, either way he's been a complete failure

As Dean put it 'too good to go on a free'
As for being a waste by Clark, what about his time under Grayson,Robins and now Powell. In fact come to think of it we've a whole host of players that haven't done it under 2/3/4 of these managers so maybe the problem isn't the manager but higher up....ie Board level, recruitment plan

If he hasn't performed under that many managers then surely it's the players fault?

Unless you are making salary room for already lined up better players to come in, I always struggle to understand why any team would loan out players to rival teams in their division!! Sure they will not be able to play for you but they may just be the missing piece in that other teams jigsaw that allows them to win a few more games and get above you, just doesn't make sense when looked at in isolation!!

Simple (you are mostly right with the first guess). We've over 30 players with a squad number, we need 11 players and a slack handful of subs per game plus another slack handful of spares in case of injury, suspensions etc. The rest just kick their heels, play occasionally for the stiffs and are usually nowhere near match fit when we give them a 10 minute run.
